Wazzup guys so basically I wanted to see how the BeamNG AI would perform against a player on the Nordschleife using the Scintilla GT3 car. So attached below should be the mod but do note that the mod is half baked as hell but uh yeah try it out please and MAKE SURE you have the ks_nord (Nordschleife map) installed which is attached below. This version of the map has been editied to support the scenario and is NECESSARY Credits Gamergull - By adding extra features to the G.A.R.S. mod Kolas - Preparing the race files, preparing the scenarios, making sure the AI is driving properly and improving its performance where needed, testing if it wasn't for him I wouldn't be able to even attempt to this. Really fun to drive scintilas around the nordschleife only problem the ai is a bit to slow for me they brake mostly unecessary but good work its fun
Hey guys I've updated the mod so now the AI should quite a bit faster but they're a little more prone to crashing. Especially at the foxhole but that's racing right? Anyways just download the zip attached in the original post and replace it in your mods folder.
Thanks for the mod! It is a lot of fun. I have tried it about a dozen times now. Finishing once or twice. I don't think I was using the updated files, but I will make sure to do that after this. I would really like to have rear view mirrors for the cockpit view. Not even the video camera on the dash but just the normal wing mirrors because of, well that takes me to my next point... The AI. I think the AI in BeamNG.drive want to be traffic more than anything else. You almost have to trick them into racing. And this is what I am most interested in, racing in Beam. The time stamps show them braking coming out of corners and on straights. Can you 'mod' or code this behavior away? *Edit - I also would like much faster versions to race against lol. I believe you can, but as I never played against AI (I make Ai vs AI), I'm unsure if it will be positive. Try to apply the following code. Within the console, right before you start the race: Code: for vid, veh in activeVehiclesIterator() do veh:queueLuaCommand(" ai.setParameters{ planErrorSmothing = false, } ") end I can anticipate 1 potential error. The AI cars are not considered as activeVehicles for whatever reason and the code not apply. Troubleshooting it: If you press the TAB key to switch active cars and it works, then the code should have worked If you press TAB and it still switches, try using the following code INDIVIDUALLY for each car Code: ai.setParameters{ planErrorSmothing = false, } I sent an email to BeamNG.Tech support for questions regarding AI parameters 3 weeks ago, but I haven't yet received any response. If they answer, I'll let you know. PS: I have another number of parameters to test AI behavior like this, but testing one at a time can actually help us understand what is happening. I can send the others after if this one doesn't work. *edit: You drive very well, I would have hit the car in the first corner lol *edit: You can change the checkpoints yourself inside the F11 World Builder if you want. Search on YT on how to set up your own AI race. There is an old video ( which I forgot the name of the creator) who teaches that, and many other things you may find interesting
Thanks so much for the indepth review man! I'm actually planning on making the AI much more faster with a bit more tweaking, i've also been doing the same for a few other maps such as Circuit de la Sarthe (LeMans) and hopefully I could release them soon. Speaking of the race i'm almost finished with making the AI race for the full GP Circuit and Nordschleife combined into one whole race but it's been throwing an error and crashing my game lately. and don't worry i'll fix the checkpoint --- Post updated --- oh and right now the race flowgraph only supports a max of 5 racers so unfortunately i can't add more AI as of right now
BIG UPDATE Hello guys the AI is now faster and a tad bit more optimized. The track has been extended to include the Nürburgring as well so the races are even longer! MAKE SURE you have the ks_nord (Nordschleife map) installed which is attached in the orginal post. This version of the map has been edited to support the scenario and is NECESSARY. After many failed attempts of racing the bad AI in this game, I tried this mod myself. This AI seems faster than usual at least, but still lacking speed and mostly awareness. When I'm not even trying to overtake, I'm just racing, they either brake when I'm on their bumper, or just don't notice me and squeeze me off and such. Overtaking is a bit of a gamble since the AI will either be too aware of you and back out immediately (or brake check) or ram into you when you're side-to-side. I just wish beamng would make the AI better for all our sakes. --- Post updated --- anyway good work on getting this far
Thanks for the review, mate. I agree that the AI could definitely be faster, but due to the constraints of the race tool in BeamNG, there is no solution to the problem right now. Hopefully, when the update is released, the AI and race tool will have been reworked.
I've tested some more, and I just think mostly, the AI doesn't use the downforce they have properly, they're driving in a very basic style, not being able to push the car, this is probably because the aero in beam is still pretty scuffed most of the time and you can't trust it, so it just drives with the tyres' grip. I can keep up with my tuned covet with wide race tires. It's the most fun I've ever had racing beam AI tho, so good job --- Post updated --- and could you tell me why the race doesn't go past the small Karussell and the dottinger? racing with gt3s across the big straight would be fire

Reupload with altered track layout to correspond with the 24hr track layout. AI pathing also altered a little, replace both map and scenario mod files
