running mod folders from an external device

hi, just wondering if anyone knew if you can run mods from an external device like a usb or an external hard drive bc my laptop is struggling with 300 + mods (50gb of files)

 

In short, no.
The mods have to be in the mods folder, if you go to your user folder you will find it. Downloaded mods should be in the repo folder, and unpacked mods in the unpacked folder, if any. Try moving mods your not using to the usb?

 

In short, yes.
Plug your USB in, run the launcher, move the user folder location to that drive, and it should work just fine. Just remember to not start the game without the drive in, otherwise it will reset to the original location.
