Not a bad start for a first map! Although, do you plan on adding a groundcover layer to your grass texture? Also, the roads are a tad rough but I'm assuming you're going to go over it with a bit a road smoothing.
Overall though not bad at all! :)

    1. yes i do plan to add better grass, just using this as a base
    2. and roads in the cliff area are supposed to be tough, but the rest is being sorted out :)

As long as it has many driveways, parking lots, and a few towns, I will love this map!

Intel processors today have half-decent GFX units on them. It's good enough to get by and to play most games on low, older (3+ years old games) games will work on medium, older than that, some on high. As long as you have fast system ram, (ddr4, or ddr3 2400mhz dual channel) you can get pretty good frames per second (or atleast full motion on 720p on Carmageddon for example). Here's where fast system memory made a big difference. FPS quotes were done on an i7 cpu, Intel 4600 gfx with 2400mhz ddr3 dual channel system memory. Intel Iris pro is considerably better than this, as are systems using DDR4 memory for the system. It's not as bad as it once was, but it's not quite up to the level many AMD chips are at. 1080p in this game on any intel gfx is generally out of reach. 720p, it's not that bad if you do low everything on an Iris Pro.
It's about 1/3rd the power, or one quarter the power, of my potato 7850 radeon 2gb card that's years old, for comparison.

On-topic, This map could be promising. Adding sidewalks, and making sure the cars don't go airborne off the road when not intended will do a lot to help your map. There is always the option of making the roadway infront of the houses level, with the set-level tool, or failing that, pulling vertices with the 1st tool option in the terrain editing tools, using a tool size of 1 and 10~20% pressure. Don't leave large bumps in the road - people will get quite fussy over it. Or make it a dirt road - those can be a bit bumpier. I've done Nevada Interstate, so if you need a few road textures, feel free to use them. I have also made (and am still working on) So-Cal Interstate. I've still got a few uneven spots in So-Cal but trust me - I know first hand how easy on little uneven spot can send the car flying! Terrain editing and perfecting is one of the most time consuming tasks in Beam editor, but it is also very rewarding when done right. Using the square leveling tool and working up a (fairly even) hillside can also give you a nice road gradient, but make sure to keep in a straight line, it works only for N S E W directions, though (angles can be done but takes a lot of talent). This is tough to do, but honestly it does make good hill grades. I've gotten the glass-smooth many times this way.
Get some grass covering out of east coast usa or one of the other beam maps. May wish to work on your grass terrain scale on the graphic a bit, unless that's your gfx settings. It shouldn't appear fuzzy.

From one map developer to another - I wish you only the best - Good luck & try out Nevada Interstate and So-Cal Interstate if you need some textures for Roads. I made most all of the ones under road&path, except the dirt road.

Looks good for a first map! Take care to keep it simple, there's always a million maps to make from here on out:cool:.

thanks! also for the trees, once i finish the regular forest and grass i will then add detail
first things first, WOW, also, how long did it take you to type that?....
but seriously, thanks for all the info! grass covering will happen at end of map along with the forest touch-up, and the roads around the cliff area are supposed to be crazy, but the rest is mostly fixed :)

having some troubles adding new meshes, they keep overwriting the original textures and somehow removing the trees...
can anyone help me with that?

As bob.blunderton said, every bump on a fast road (40 km+) is annoying. But it looks really cool, is it based on a real town?
I am looking forward to your first release!
