Really Slow Downloads on Repo and Website

So, I've been wanting to download the Procyon Centauri mod for the past week or so, and...well, I haven't been able to. Every time I want to download it, my download speed goes right down to about 50 KB/s and only occasionally peaks at 100 KB/s. This, despite me being able to download similarly-sized Steam updates at 1-2 MB/s and sometimes up to 10 MB/S.

My antivirus is not blocking BeamNG from accessing the Internet, I've already tried running a VPN linking to Germany, and my Internet speed is about 22 MB/s down and 5 MB/s up normally. Which should be plenty for me to download a 300-odd MB mod in a reasonable timespan.

I've also tried downloading in the middle of the night (US time), when most players are asleep, and even then, it's still very slow. I know many others have faced the same issue, and I've tried looking for answers there that could work for me, but nothing there worked.

I think it's just how far I am from Germany that makes downloading even moderately large mods take forever, but I dunno.

(EDIT: I also tried this: https://speed.hetzner.de/ - it gave me similar results to the BeamNG downloads, 50-100 KB/s.)

 

Have you tried disabling the antivirus and downloading it? When you install Steam, the program may have added a permission from the Firewall for no limitation while downloading.

 

Probably gave you similar results because of the fact that BeamNG.com is hosted by Hetzner.

 

I have tried that before, but it didn't work for me. I'll try it again and see what happens.

(Tried it again - still didn't work. I might need to reset my router to finally get a decent connection. I also have a wall between me and the router - perhaps that's why my download speeds are crap.)

Oh, that makes sense. I was saying that because I saw one other person get different results from their Hetzner and BeamNG downloads, so I put that in there just to make sure.
