I can't see much on this forum about RC cars, but here goes anyway.

I got an RC car off amazon, £22. And it's quite good, "4 speeds" which means forward/backward with turbo on each, with turbo having hardly any effect, and NiCd batteries with a whopping 400mah :( *sigh* i'll upgrade it when i get the chance, I also want a soldering iron as i don't have one, i'll be checking local aldi and lidl stores for one.

Otherwise the car is quite fast, but it doesn't have boat loads of torque. It gathers speed so to say

I don't own any...yet. But there is a company that manufactures some top-notch RC vehicles.

I also have a station wagon but that needs a new side panel so I can't use it right now

Ha ha yep at a top notch price!

Oh and my cheapo RC car has developed a fault, when it's cold, it doesn't work properly, there is far too much friction and so doesn't move. Pushing it along trees it up. But the motor gets very hot.

it's only a day old! I don't want to take it apart, it's cheap stuff anyway, probably sealed.

still it can't hurt to spray any visible moving parts with WD40 or something similar

I lubricate my 1997 Schwinn Frontier bicycle with silicone spray, and it seems to be more "durable" than WD40. Honestly, silicone spray is my preference of lube.

One of mine. An old traxxas slayer converted to electric, using a brushless motor intended for a 1/8th scale RC truck in something that shares dimensions with a traxxas slash - a 1/10th scale truck (the later slayer pros this is not the case) - albeit weighs far more than any 1/10th electric. Still has 2 speed gearbox, mechanical disk brake and a seperate reverse gear, all working. But has far more power than its nitro motor ever did, and that's at 3 cell lipo, it's meant for 5 cell.

If this thread could include drones, I would definitely talk about them. Oh well...
    OT:
What are the best cheap (offroad) rc cars? I can't seem to find any.

Higher end gear second hand can also be an option
