    Hello
this is supposed to be an educational thread talking about rare cars
    RULES:
-dont spam the same car/ rare cars people generally are familiar with (Skyline GTR N1, etc)
-better if you own/ have seen one
-pictures and dates of the specific car/trim are needed (for personal research)

I will start it off with this bad boy:
1990 Pontiac Bonneville SSE with a 3.8 transverse supercharged V6 and 4 doors FWD.
apparently these were the shit in the 80's/90's, and i have only ever seen one.
they were a rare factory option and apparently only 2 exist in the US now (not sure on that)
#1 was located in my area in NorCal for 6K. Gray on tan, low mileage example. rust free with slightly fading clear coat.
up until i did some research on this car, i had no idea how absolutely rare these things are now. would have snagged it if i had known :(
and i saw it driving today on my way to school. it was the same car. gray on tan, fading clear coat, 1990. Gald to see it's being taken care off.

I live for these cars :p

    1988-1993 Audi V8

    What is it?
A Quattro-only Audi 100 on steroids named after its only engine option.
    Why is it rare?
High cost, exterior similarity to the 100 and customers' prejudices kept sales low. Expensive and hard to get parts joined later.
    How much were built?
    Sedan - 28K, LWB Sedan - circa 160, Wagon - 1
    How much are still around?
    N/A
    Are they expensive?
Yes. In Europe, prices range between 2-25K €. Average condition examples you probably want the most go for 5-10.
    Where to find them?
Europe, US, former USSR, possibly elsewhere, but Germany is your best bet.
    Have I ever seen one?
    No.
Are there any in my country?
    Yes, confirmed.
On a scale of 1 to 5, how much do I want one?
    4+
    Misc info
Numerous V8 were destroyed in Cobra 11, but they weren't so valuable back then. Another one was destroyed in the abomination of a movie Atomic Blonde, along with several Eastern Block oldtimers. Why couldn't they have used modern cars? Their version of East Berlin ended up being full of Astra Js, Corsa Cs, Qashqais and Yarises anyway. RIP V8 and our 4-wheeled communist comrades. Never forget.
The only wagon was built specially for the CEO's wife and is locked away at Audi's secret facility, so there is a 100% chance that any V8 wagon you see on the road is a homemade contraption created by combining parts of a V8 sedan with an 100 or 200 Avant. Such amalgamations are relatively common among V8s and may be either full (including drivetrain swap) or cosmetic (just body panels + interior) conversions. Example below:

You can freely reuse my template if you wish! This will make this thread look much better - like a Jalopnik (or similar) article.

    What is it?
A damn rocketship stuck to the ground (Vector W8)
    Why is it rare?
Massive cost and production is in the low double-digits.
    How much were built?
    19
    How much are still around?
From what i've heard, only 17 still exist due to a massive amount of over-steer and the rich ding-dongs who drive it with their lack of finesse or skill.
    Are they expensive?
No, not at all, only about 600 grand.
    Where to find them?
Museums or some Arab prince I think.
    Have I ever seen one?
    Nope.
Are there any in my country?
    Yes, confirmed.
On a scale of 1 to 5, how much do I want one?
    Seven headass.
    Misc info
Made during the era in which Ferrari was still bragging about cracking 200 MPH, this ridiculous contraption clocked 227 with a less powerful engine than it's stock counterparts. Used a GM-sourced V-8 engine with some massive turbos strapped to it, it made 650 BHP and did 0-62 in FOUR SECONDS.

Varedo is powered by a mid-mounted 351 cubic inch (5.7L) Ford 351 Cleveland V8 making 325 bhp. Power is driven to the rear wheels through a ZF 5-speed manual transmission. The Varedo also used a full fiberglass body in order to save weight.

    1965-1973 AC Frua:

    What is it?
A British-Italian-American Ford V8-engined supercar/GT, based on a longer version of the Shelby Cobra chassis. Had the same big-block V8, but with an automatic option.

    Why is it rare?
High cost, even in comparison to contemporary supercars, lack of widespread brand recognition and low-volume nature of its production.

    How much were built?
49 fastbacks, 29 roadsters, 3 special-bodied, one LWB fastback prototype and one AC 428 prototype.

    How much are still around?
There is a registry (https://acfrua428.activeboard.com/mobile.spark?p=subforum&subForum=397875) for the curious.

    Are they expensive?
If you're lucky enough to find one, you are likely gonna get it for less than £150k, or even below £100k. That's cheap compared to competitor supercars, or the Shelby Cobra platform mate.

    Where to find them?
Specialist dealerships and auction houses, mainly in the US and UK.

    Have I ever seen one?
    No.

Are there any in my country?
    No.

On a scale of 1 to 5, how much do I want one?
    5-

    Misc info
The car is named after the Frua design studio, in which it was designed, which in turn was named after its founder and chairman Pietro Frua.

John Bonham, the drummer of Led Zeppelin, owned one. The car was promptly sold by him to fellow drummer Keith Moon, a member of The Who and the man in my profile picture, who took a loan to buy it. Moonie's car was involved in multiple accidents and once stopped train traffic for over an hour by breaking down on a railway crossing. Finally, the rock star ended up completely writing it off.

There's only 50 of these Mini Clubvans in the U.S. Now thats rare
Made in 2013 and cancelled due to insanely low sales numbers. It's basically just a Clubman, but with filled in rear windows that are JUST VINYL COVERS what an amazing idea. But there is plastic on the inside so :p Go watch Doug Demuro's video on it for more info
