Now that odometers have been added to the game, its time we consider the factor that the cars we use and crash in game in all likelyhood are not exactly brand new, with some even displaying some wear, tear and rust on their underbodies. My idea is that cars spawned using the vehicle spawner should start with a randomize odometer that is "within the age and rarity of the vehicle". For instance: A Roamer on average would have for this date and age between 100-200k miles. Thus the odometer should display a random number that is "within the average". Now what about custom configs and default cars? Well now this would add a layer of complexity, but it would be interesting to see custom configs and vehicles that players select as their "default" actually save the odometer and carry it over through resets, respawns and full reloads of the world. Ofcourse, at the end of the day we gotta keep in mind that KISS principle (Keep it simple, stupid). Adding complexity for the sake of a tiny bit of realism isnt really a priority, and while it adds polish to the game, this isnt anything that having functional odometers in the first place does. Also keep in mind that saveable odometers and this level of "randomization" could eventually natually come into the game via the career mode, through the "used car market" (assuming that this becomes a thing)
I think this will be implemented when tire wear and dynamic dirt is added, and linked to it. Cars with more mileage will be more dirty and worn out.
We're not exactly sure yet what to do in this area, lots of ideas, lots of connected issues and things that aren't obvious on first thought. But yea, fairly certain that something will be done here eventually.
