I've been patiently waiting or not really for... now I can't remember what I was waiting for. In short, support for adding .dae models to existing ones. I can't remember how Gabester phrased it. Anyways, since I am impatient, and lots of people seem to have no problem doing the import/export dance for Torque3D, how do I do it? Yeah I know how to, but I've ran into some issues. So I'll lay it out nicely for you guys. -Autodesk 3ds Max 2014 -Been using the FBX Import (Autodesk Collada) with default settings to import the dae. -Only run into one warning on import. "While reading or writing a file the following notifications have been raised. -Warning: A <material> element with type "blinn" is converted to Phong material." -Everything imports fine. Models and smoothing groups look fine as far as I can tell. -I mock up some tires and name them. No materials for now. -I export it using the same FBX (Autodesk Collada) -Only run into one warning on export. "While reading or writing a file the following notifications have been raised. -Warning: Null not supported by COLLADA. Node EnvironmentAmbientLight will lose its geometric information. The node transforms will be saved." -Seems that's not that important. -Then I open the Jbeam for the tires and replace only the object name for the tires with mine. -Replace the original pickup. -Open BeamNG and voila! My tires are fine-ish. Don't really care about the wheel because once I figure this out I'll make my own for it. Everything else is also fine on the version, but the other versions are messed up. What am I messing up? Should I be using OpenCollada, or are my settings wrong, or something a little more in-depth? Also since it's been a while since I've actually exported this model. Is Torque3D Y-up or Z-up?
Thanks Gabester. So far it doesn't look as though they officially support 2014 yet, but I'll try 2013's on 2014 because some people say it works. Worse case scenario is I reinstall the student copy of 2013 again. I think I still have it around here somewhere. Anyways. I'll try after work and see how it goes. Thanks again for the reply.
I had this issue as well with the wheel textures, so I downloaded openCOLLADA, and when I try to import the fullsize.DEA to 3dsmax (2013) it shows up and all the parts etc. are there, but I can't detach anything (to split a part in two). Does anyone know what could cause this?
