It could be a extra feature in the settings -> Gameplay section Proper cold starting would greatly add immersion to the game when playing maps that have below 0 temperatures. Engines having trouble cranking over in the cold etc. Additionally you could add the feature for diesel engines where you would have to heat the combustion chambers via glow plugs for "fast" starting and not doing it would increase the time to start the engine. Old carbureted engines would ofcourse start slower than new fuel injected ones (add choke to carbs?)
The game already supports this and it's noticeably harder to start a car in cold environments than in hot ones. Diesel glow plug simulation is not implemented though.
Currently the cold starting is kinda meh. sure it takes couple of seconds longer but thats why i put "Proper" to the start. For example the covets 1.5l carb engine takes under 3 secs to start at -40 degrees. Ofcourse this proposal isnt something that needs to be done right away, im sure the devs have a lot of other stuff to do but still it would be cool
That is an excellent idea! Hope to see that on the future as well. On the same topic it would be nice to be able to crank the engine when the car is out of fuel and even if the engine is damaged.
There's a bug since 0.28 where you don't have to hold the starter as long as it was in 0.27. When you hear the engine start to turn over you can let go and it will start with no problem. I really hope it becomes fixed.
hope modern cars have higher revs, different engine sound, and reduced power on cold start, for the few first minutes, like real cars do.
