I recently re-installed the game (after a rather large hiatus due to the parts menu being broken), and attempted to set the graphics to a setup where the game was playable. The problem is, a major part of the setup was the option to turn the shaders off, which no longer shows. This means that I cannot play the game even on the new "lowest" graphics settings without the game dipping to a single-digit framerate. Is this a bug? A feature? If the latter, why was it removed, and who on the dev team hates people with poor graphics cards so much?

I don't think they hate people with "poor graphics cards" it is maybe a torque3d related issue, and also.. new games with newer game engines and graphics on average, aren't really designed to work on anything worse then a 3 year old mid to entry level dedicated graphics card at the very least. :(

In computer graphics a shader is what tells your graphics card how to render stuff. I don't ever remember an option to turn shaders off, and if there was it would mean nothing rendering.

We cannot help you unless you try to explain what you were actually going for.

Hmm. I may have been thinking of an option to turn of lighting effects, since I remember there being a lack of shadows, brakelight flares, etc.
Apologies for the late reply, I wasn't able to get to a computer until now.
