Hi! As I was messing around with parts editor, I figured out that removing doors, hood, trunk, bumpers, fenders triples the FPS. As theese parts have reflections, I came to the conclusion, that reflections slow the game down.
Well, they are not dynamic reflections, they appear to be a simple but effective static environment map so I dont see how it would affect performance that much, most likely you are getting an FPS boost from removing the most polygon heavy areas from view.
While reflections do slow the game a bit the fps increase you are seeing is due to you making the physics calculations simpler.
When you remove parts you remove nodes and beams. Press K to phase through the debugging. You'll be able to see them, and they're your physics. removing those, less physics to get your PC worked up over. a stripped down Ibishu Covet is quite a giggle, I assure you
