Who needs CGI, I enjoyed these when they were new, I enjoy them still today, and who would not, still fresh ads after 50 years or so
Lol, I recognize that as the Canadian ad that pleasantly surprised the Nostalgia Critic. After watching that, I went back and watched this. Ugh. Man do I miss that game. It's a shame you can't play it on newer systems. I really do hate it when CGI is demonized. When compared to some of the ones today, it really goes to show how much advertising has changed.
I thought my point was how cool they could create at times before computers, but what I would know of...
I do agree with you. Computers then were an emerging technology not yet commonplace. I was referring to the general fact that there is a lot of people who harp on CGI a lot, and it bugs me. I've seen CGI get pretty bad, but I've also seen it get pretty good. And on the flip side, I'd say the same thing about practical effects, I've seen both good and bad practical effects. I wish it could be treated like a two way street, rather than a one way like I've seen it.
Old Disney Films anything from Snow White to Oliver and Company, Pre season 8 Family Guy, Convoy, Smokey and the Bandit, and The A Team.
I remember watching Jaws (1975) since I was 5 years old. Additionally, I also remember when I used to play Nuketown singleplayer on one of the older CoD games.
Some nostalgiaception: When I was a kid, my father wanted to buy some car he dreamed of having in the 80s. After it turned out good Audi Quattros were outside any budget my mother would approve of, and a W116/W126 S-Class was ruled out for not being sporty (and most examples being somewhat worn and associated with ghetto luxury), the choice ended up being between two cars: Peugeot 205 GTI and Ford Capri 2.8i. Ultimately, we bought neither of them, and spent the money on getting a better-equipped new Corolla to replace our decade-old Nissan with surface rust. Also, I'm likely in the last generation to live without easily accessible Internet and media. When you needed to use the Internet (after we got it)-, you had to wait for Windows 2000/XP to turn on and then use the Internet. When you wanted to watch something, you needed to have it on DVD or VHS. At least before fast enough broadband, but then you'd still need to wait for Windows XP. When you wanted to listen to a song, you needed it on CD (I remember the very early-80s-like amp we had, brushed steel, squared-off styling and a big volume knob), or needed to turn the computer on. Now, you just grab your phone or tablet.
i remember when the forums weren't full of german 12 year olds who can't speak english and grown men who unironically play roblox.... good times
The cheapest cars used to be really cheap in mid-00s Poland. When I was learning to read on classifieds my dad browsed, I could see Fiat 126ps and Trabants for 200-300 PLN ($80-120, and even less at current exchange rates), and Syrenas for 100-200 PLN ($40-80 at the time's exchange rates).
