I made my own normal map and I'm trying to achieve a worn down/old effect on the metal, but whenever I switch to this new normal map the car switches on dark mode. Is there any reason for this? I have checked everything else and the normal map is the only thing causing the problem. Thank you --- Post updated --- Normal map in question:
First of all, this texture is MASSIVE, you don't need such a huge one. Second, are you using the texture cooker or compressing it manually? It's likely that you used a wrong compression mode.
save it as a n_normal.png then the game automatically converts it to .dds then go to 0.28/temp/vehicles/hopper, there you will find the proper .dds
