    SO,

I was playing with my controller because I cant afford my proper sim-build, and I was wondering:

Can't there be a better solution then just left and right analogue?

THERE CAN (if this will be coded into the game ofc)

My Idea is a Rotational/Circulating stick mechanic where you Rotate/Circle the stick clockwise for right and counterclockwise for left, this would enable controller players the following:

    • way more precision while steering
    • full range of motion at any time (unlike current speed filters)
    • No steering destortion (unlike current curve filters)
    • 1:1 steering ratio with any car because of the nature of the mechanic (unlike current curve filters)
    • Stickdrift is basically eliminated/irrelevant
    • It adds comfort and tiny bit of immersion, which is always pleasing in a simulator

Discription of how I imagine the mechanic working:

the center point of the wheel will be if the left stick is in the center or completely tilted up.
now lets say you are driving an F1 car and the steering angle is 360° (180° in each direction)
in that case the input you will need to make to fully steer to the LEFT side would be:

rotate the stick from 0° (completely tilted up) ANITCLOCKWISE to 180° (completely tilted down) for full lock
    View attachment 915500
and now lets say you are driving a BUS with tons of angle lets say 2160° of angle (3 times 360° in each direction) in that case you would do the following to fully steer to the RIGHT side:
rotate the stick from 0° (completely tilted up) 3 times CLOCKWISE (3 times 360° ; completely tilted up) to achieve full lock.

if you move the left stick to the complete left your ingame wheel would snap to 90° no matter how much your wheel is turned already, to minimize confusion if you accidentally let go of the stick

extra: you can add multiple options, like where the center point would be (left, up, right, down)

And just like with a steering wheel input, you would be able to map an angle of your liking e.g. 900° (1,5 rotations) without being affected by the vehicle

IF YOU ADD THIS MECHANIC PLEASE DO NOT ADD THE SMOOTHING OF THE CURRENT "GAMEPAD" FILTER TO THIS MECHANIC, IT WILL RUIN THE ROOT POINT.

I hope you understood what I am trying to explain and I hope you will take this into serious consideration.

    Pretty please,

    BeamNG.drive enjoyer.

The idea is not bad, but would be hell to make it work. Although there's this mod that helps a lot:

yes, but at that point the analogue stick is useless. Furthermore I have realized nobody gets the point, and that this will never be implemented anyways, just get a sim-rig :)
