After a bit of messing around I thought it would be worthwhile to start a new thread so I can keep track of anything I might/will make. Bruckell Moonhawk: Racing Stripes This first skin was intended to get the hang of texture modding again, it's been a while since I last modded textures, so it's nice and easy. The Moonhawk isn't the fastest car in the world, so to give it an illusion of speed I decided to give it some racing stripes... 16-09-2013 View attachment moonhawk_c_stripe.dds
Re: My Skin Portfolio (WIP: 1/1) Wow, I was actually hoping someone would make something like this, to go along with my Drag Moonhawk No idea about the compression though :\
Re: My Skin Portfolio (WIP: 1/1) You should split the stripe down the middle to go along with the crease that goes down the middle of the hood and trunk
Re: My Skin Portfolio (WIP: 1/1) Maybe have it end before the edge of the hood instead of continuing down into the grille. Do something similar in the rear too - have it terminate nicely with rounded edges before the edge of the panel.
Re: My Skin Portfolio (WIP: 1/1) Did some small adjustments like you suggested, Made a small angle to the end of the stripes on the hood. The same on the rear, without the angled ends. The stripe stops at the same place as the crease that's on the trunk.
Re: My Skin Portfolio (WIP: 1/1) Yup, exactly what I meant. A cool finishing touch would be to give the stripes a kind of floating outline border like the stripe in the first post.
Re: My Skin Portfolio (WIP: 1/1) I got my inspiration here, now it's starting to look quite a lot like it. xD (Burnout Paradise - Carson GT Concept) To add that floating outline, I think I'll have to move the stripes a bit outward. Otherwise they'll go to far into the crease.
Re: My Skin Portfolio (WIP: 1/1) Does this have to be added by going into the editor or should it appear in the vehicle parts? Added it to the moonhawk folder now need to figure out how to use it lol.
Re: My Skin Portfolio (WIP: 1/1) Go in the editor Select the car (the "theplayer" object) Switch to the material editor Change the current material to "moonhawk" (it's a dropdown list, currently selected item is probably a wheel) Select layer2 (layer0 is currently selected) click edit on the top of the 3 textures and select the moonhawk_c_stripe.dds click save and done. If you can't figure it out because of my fast explanation, there should be some tutorials on this forum somewhere. (or just ask again, and I'll snap some screenshots to explain it)
Re: My Skin Portfolio (WIP: 1/1) Thank you very much! After a little bit of trial and error and watching some tutorials I got it all figured out with your instructions as a base, nice work love the stripes!
