In the new update, in the traffic feature with police, they will chase the player if they.. A. Speed B. Commit a hit'n run I got a few ideas on how the police will get upset at you. I imagine police chasing the player if they... A. Are Driving Recklessly B. Commit a overtake on a double-line road and/or almost causes a accident C. Run a red light D. Drive too slow E. Are driving too close to a car F. Do Donuts, drifts or burnout G. Switches lanes very frequently on Freeway/Interstate I would love to see police programmed to chase the player if they do any of the listed
I'd like to have these things happen, too . It's easy to check for vehicle speed and collisions, but harder to check for some of those specific behaviors (but possible). Some things, such as overtakes on double lined roads and running red lights, will need to make use of more road data than what is currently in the game. Anyhow, thanks for the list; more of these triggers should make their way into the next updates.
Sorry for bumping this, but since we are on topic of AI triggering... I can't seem to find a way for the traffic to react to police sirens (like pulling over or occasionally flee) like it did before the app was in the vanilla game. Has that feature been removed? I tried it in safe mode as well. But no luck.
Speaking of "triggering" the police, other traffic vehicles should also be able to get chased by the police (reckless traffic anyone?). and maybe enforce more laws (that weren't mentioned in this post). Here are some more suggestions on how to get cops on you:` Going past a stop sign without stopping Changing lanes/turning without blinking Ignoring "Right of Way" Driving on the shoulder Driving a heavily damaged car
I haven't quite figured out what triggers the police in the current version. Speeding maybe, but I've hit them at low speeds and they do nothing. I totally agree with implementing the basics first, i.e. speeding and collisions, and worry about enforcing other traffic laws maybe later if time allows. I would also like to see improvements to the AI when it's fleeing from you in traffic. It almost works, i.e. AI tries to pass the traffic, especially if you leave the in-lane option off, but too often the fleeing vehicle will also slow down instead of passing. Also, I've seen it where a traffic car gets spawned inside the fleeing car, basically forcing the chase to come to an artificial end.
