This game's damage model is already fantastic, and is something which not a single other game has managed to replicate even 12 years after BeamNG's demo released. But, what this game desperately needs is more types of mechanical problems. At this moment, you can mess up your transmission from forgetting the clutch, money shift and explode your engine, let it run hot for too long and blow the piston rings, head gasket, and damage your connecting rod bearings. And... that is pretty much it. In career mode, even the used cars with 200k+ miles drive as if they're fresh off the factory. This eliminates the risk of accidentally buying an almost undrivable neglected lemon like in real life. Imagine purchasing a used ETK for dirt cheap, thinking you got a great deal, only for it to straight up die after a week of driving it. That would add a whole new layer of fun difficulty to career mode by having you carefully inspect cars before spending your hard-earned money. Here are some of the mechanical problems I would love to see in career mode: Faulty instrument cluster: It either displays your speed, RPMs, engine temperature, or fuel levels incorrectly, or not at all. Bad starter motor: Your car takes longer to start, or not at all. Starter is audibly weaker. Bad wheel bearings: Horrid grinding noise that increases as you speed up, which worsens until your wheels seize up. Automatic transmission problems: I experienced this on a neglected beater Chevy. It was either stuck in gear, or straight up refused to engage after shifting to D. Less severe issues involve noisiness, gears slipping, and delayed engagement. There are many more I'd wish to have in BeamNG, ranging from nuisances to major failures that leave you stranded in the middle of the road waiting for a tow truck. Also, damage saving in career mode would be AWESOME. Right now, even a tiny little dent in your bumper forces you to repair your car and wait. It makes driving in career mode with traffic a woefully unpleasant experience to go through. Driving an old Ibishu really hard and watching it fall apart in the span of several months sounds like a whole lotta fun
I made a mod for that just now. Head over to https://beamng.com/threads/keeping-damaged-vehicles-in-career-mode.102853/
