Im working on a FFB mod that enhances some parts i want more of in the FFB. What im aiming for: More weight transfer feel (to easier feel what the car/truck is doing, great for drifting but for everything else too) More tire detail without more noise (aiming for less smoothing basicly) Happy users: 'Man, I really enjoy this. I haven't used wheel like this since I had beamng on first release. I don't know if it's the credit of the mod or not, but I tell ya I won't be removing it.' - @BadmanTru 2 'Really good! It's very accurate (specially in karts). Great job!' - @fishbazookas Right now the mod contains two parts: 1. A change to the side g-force max value in the Options - Controls - Force Feedback - XAXIS - Side Acceleration Strength. Max value is now 80 instead of 20. 2. A slight change in ffb calculation, which enhances some parts more. As you can see i run 570 strength now, 70% g-forces and 0 Smoothing. All these are of course personal preferences but also depending on wheel and wheel software setup. Id recommend begin with lower values but these are what i use. If you drift alot and dont already do this, please try this out: Put a curve on your throttle Linearity value. Real world throttlebodys have this and it makes driving more accurate ingame. Put a curve on your brake Linearity value. The other values are down to how my setup comes from factory, for example my brake travel is very short. How to Install this mod: Download the MoreimmersiveFFB.zip file and Drag&Drop the content to your C:\Users\[YOURUSERNAME]\AppData\Local\BeamNG.drive\0.34 folder so that the Lua and ui folders both turn up like this: Now run the game. No need to clear cache. How to uninstall: Delete the Lua and ui folder from the Beamng 0.34 folder you installed them to. Set your g-force value to whatever you had before. Done. I might make this a repo mod but for now its like this. Enjoy
If you mean the jerking that occurs when at full lock (not soft lock) i believe it can be none at 0 smoothing or atleast less than the usual 150 setting the smoothing has out the box. The ability to run 0 smoothing gives me alot more throuhh the wheel. The higher side g forces seem to cancel alot of it out.
Please do! I dont know if its just me liking my own mod but not seeing the bad things or if more ppl will like it. Not yet, i dont really know how to demonstrate it. I can record a vid where i try to balance the rear of the car when drifting but its hard to demonstrate a ffb mod so open to suggestions
I finally got around to testing it yesterday. I followed your steps and I tell ya my wheel hasn't felt this good ever with beam. The increased slide force is quite handy and whatever you did for calculations the oscillation is almost gone.
Glad to hear that! The increased g forces cancels alot of the oscillations. Been running the increased g forces for a few years (can be manually set higher in a user input file) and finally decided to look further into things. Trying to bring out even more detail but we'll see how that goes. Thanks for your input!
i love this, it makes the wheel go back way faster when drifting, tho i gotta complain that it made me increase smoothing (i had to go from 450 to 500 and there's still some random effects sometimes which i hate), btw, an option to increase smoothing up to 1000 would be good, this mod would create the perfect ffb for beamng (i use a g27 btw, mod is prob not made for those so thats why that happens lol)
i been running around 20 smoothing, at 500 strength and 60 slide accel. I learned caster has a huge affect on oscillation aswell.
Just what i wamted to achieve, very happy to hear that! Quite odd results for your smoothing though and i use a g920 so should be about the same. Are you talking about primary or secondary smoothing? Thats about what i use too. It seems like all the suspension adjustments is picked up more now, i adjusted caster down too, because i could actually feel the real point where the wheel steering bumps over due to the tie rod passing the point of parrallellity or extension from the centre of the hub (as in real cars too).
primary, secondary is on automatic, btw i use 550 strength, also, if i use 0 smoothing, my wheel just goes crazy lol --- Post updated --- the thing is, i hate the effects (like abs effect, road slip effect, curb effect, the same ones in assetto), and thats why i gotta put smoothing to max, to lower them all the way, those effects dont feel realistic --- Post updated --- i found a "fix" to this, just delete the lua folder and only use the UI one lol
Goos that you found a 'fix', to bad it removes half the mod Weird issue youve got there though, shouldnt really be a problem. Primary smoothing should be way less even with vanilla ffb afaik. Ive had occasions where ive needed to delete the inputmaps file because it was broken. Cant say much more than that but if anyone else is running a G27 has the same problems
Man, I really enjoy this. I haven't used wheel like this since I had beamng on first release. I don't know if it's the credit of the mod or not, but I tell ya I won't be removing it.
yeah, something is really weird, g27 is basically the same as the g920 (except with like 0.2nm more of torque), so that problem shouldnt exist
Hey, just wondering if you could do an iRacing-like FFB for BeamNG. It's fine if you can, but i would greatly appreciate it
