Hi everyone, As you may know I recently created a skin/config for the LKS Prerunner. No one has reported any issues with it and it works fine on my end. @supercharge71 Has also created a skin/config for the Prerunner too. It works fine and there are no problems on my end or his end. However, as soon as both of these configs are installed my skin (cctoyotaskin) does not show up and the body is completely white. I have spent literally hours going through every singe piece of code on both configs and I cannot see any way in which these configs would conflict. They both work individually so there must be something I am missing. Any help would be appreciated, there is nothing more I can do as I have tried literally everything I can think of and I want @supercharge71 to be able to release his first skin. (and yes I have cleared my cache) Thanks in advance for any help, CrimsonCrocodile. --- Post updated --- Update: @makaphin let me test out their WIP skin for the LKS prerunner. Both skins worked fine so there is an issue with supercharge's mod (VenomMotorsports) however I still cannot find the issue with it.
There must be some overlapping names/folders issue. (I'm on mobile so I can't really test it myself) Check if your materials.cs files are in different folders (otherwise one might be overwriting the other) the same goes for .jbeam files.
It all seemed fine to me when I was trying to solve the issue, I might try it again later today and see if I missed something obvious.
I don't know too much about skins, but I did spot there is materials folder by both skin mods. materials.cs of that materials folder is loaded and then overwritten. I think that you need more unique folder name, for example materials_crimsonCrocodile if such is possible.
Oh, I thought it was just supposed to be named materials.cs as that's what it said in the wiki https://wiki.beamng.com/Introduction_to_skin_system Either it shouldn't make a difference or the wiki really needs to be updated Edit: Sorry I read that wrong, I didn't realise you meant the folder name.
Yeah, folder name, that is kind like own cave for it to live on, so no evil tribes set up their cave on same spot
I see now, I was somehow under the impression that the folder had to be called 'materials'. I swear I read it somewhere... I guess not. Thank you for your help. I'll fix up @supercharge71's mod up now so he can upload it when he gets online. I might leave mine as is unless people report issues as I'm probably the only person who will be dumb enough to call the materials folder 'materials' for the prerunner mod.
No you're not. The first version of the mod also had a "materials" foler, as well as my v10 car pack has that issue.
Glad to see I'm not the only one At least I've learnt now --- Post updated --- It worked Thank you for your help!
Name of materials (in materials.cs and also Blender materials), name of parts and name of folders are something if kept with very unique name, conflicts between mods are quite few. If material in Blender is called window, it is quite likely someone else has material name window. Same for material names of materials.cs if name of material exists already, later loaded will overwrite, hence name of materials are good to have modder name in them or something to keep chances of conflict low. That might help someone else in a future too
Exactly, I tried to do that with my skin name 'cctoyotaskin' stands for CrimsonCrocodile Toyota Skin. I thought I would be better than just 'toyotaskin'. Ironic that after trying to make all file names unique, a conflicting file name broke the mod As I said I thought it was supposed be called 'materials' or it wouldn't work. I need to pay more attention to the wiki next time...
Yes I am, if you would like to message me about anything regarding that PM me, this thread was just to help me resolve an issue with conflicting skins. (Also you might want to read through this if you are creating skins, it may contain useful information)
Are you good at Blender? I Need help on my mod Blueprint of a car I want to make as a mod! Can you please make the model I will GIVE YOU CREDITS! But if you cant not my problem!
First of all, I only have a very basic understanding of Blender, and I am no where near skilled enough to be able to make a vehicle (yet) Secondly, I’m not sure you understand what goes into vehicle creation. Making the model alone will take months. And even if I did make you the model (which I can’t do anyway) you do realise you would need to jbeam, UV map, make Configurations etc. etc. You can’t just put a model in game and expect it to work. Start off with skins and configs, then move to parts and simple jbeaming, then create more advanced parts, and then maybe after a year or so move onto vehicle creation - once you know how to use all of the software involved easily. If you have any more questions about your mods please PM me. It is the wrong place to post on this thread
