Is downloading mods From ModLand safe and won't cause a virus?

 

no site outside of the official site can be trusted for virus free with all of the ads designed to confuse you with the mod download link but if you do use it be carefull and scroll down a little bit to find the real link it might pull up a few fake pages before the real one DO NOT EVER CLICK ALLOW AND DELETE ANY FILES IT STARTS DOWNLOADING WITHOUT YOU CLICKING THE REAL LINK and then run a full computer scan on windows defender but my recommendation is to just not use modland because of virus possibilities or stolen mods

Also I know what you said about all outside areas what about world of mods

 

modland is usually hit or miss
you might find a good mod, but usually most are going to be pretty low quality and simply garbage

 

what i said applies to both world of mods modland and whatever other non official mod sites there are

like catchow said, i recommend you stick with the forums or the repo for mods

 

if you do download it id run a full scan or 2 on your computer with whatever antivirus you have

I don't suggest downloading from there but if you really want, make sure to Virus scan the file. Once the file is downloaded, right click and click "Scan with microsoft defender."
If there is a Virus, Permanently delete the file. Once again, I DON'T SUGGEST DOWNLOADING FROM ANY OTHER WEBSITES OTHER THAN THE OFFICIAL ONE.

Most likely safe if it is a direct download link. direct download links are colored blue, external download links are colored gray. external downloads can redirect you to sketchy websites, safest external downloads are google drive and sharemods.

Except from the Ford Sierra by ?? (Mf?) that I didn´t find anywhere else and that is decent quality. Some windshieldwipers inexplicably are on the wrong side (for both RHD and LHD versions ?!), there is no early 5-door hatchback, the XR4i triple sidewidows are poorly modeled, but the Cosworth are great fun, more so the RWD variants on Jungle Rock Island Rally by Elferrito. Search for mfsierra2.

 

Why? Downloading IRL car mods might sound dumb, but I still WANT them. your opinion does not change the fact that it is SAFE if you download the actual ZIP file.

 

Murph sure is operating by double standards, it´s wrong to do but obviously himself he did it because why then would be come to the conclusion "i have seen mods with janky websites in the folder".
