    Hello BeamNG players.
first of all, I'm 19, ive used computers and been a PC gamer all my life, I'm a volunteer firefighter in Pennsylvania, which is why i want to build a firetruck. We are buying a new pumper and I would really like to try to model it and Possibly make it playable in BeamNG, the first "firetruck" in the game. But there is a problem, I have absolutely NO modeling experience. infact i just downloaded Blender a few minutes ago.
From what i've seen as far as suggestions one thing I see a lot is to start off with something simple. So I would really like your opinion on this. I would think that something like a firetruck might seem very complex, but might actually be fairly "simple" as far as modelling is concerned. It has a (relatively) flat front, flat sides and a flat back. with a couple smooth curves that connect them.

What I'd like to ask you more experienced fellows is, What am I getting myself into? Do you think I'm jumping in way over my head or might this be possible for me? I have some blueprints for our engine but as of right now(or possibly indefinitely) I cannot post pictures or blueprints of the truck as per our fire companies rules. but I can give you guys an idea of what i want to make. http://chicagoareafire.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/Palatine-squad-1024x770.jpg this is a picture of another firetruck with a fairly similar design to the one we are getting.

What do you guys think? As of right now, I'm just going to try modeling the body. Anything after that such as beams/nodes and jbeam stuff is waaayy over my head right now so I'll have to try to learn that as I go or find partner that can help me.
.....well what do you guys think? I'm going to start collecting blueprint and pictures to use for reference tomorrow.

ps. If this is being posted in the wrong forum section please let me know so I can remove it and post it to the correct subforum! Thanks!

Way over head. There are still lots of minute details.

Start with cups, mugs and teapots etc (seems to be the modelling hello world), then work your way up.
