I said this in one of my other threads but nobody answered so I thought I'd give it it's own thread because its a pretty big issue. I unzipped east coast usa and it didn't work at all then re-zipped it and it was still broke so I think the way that I'm decompressing the files is wrong or something.
You aren't giving enough information. Where did you get the zip from? (was it "../BeamNG.drive\content\levels\east_coast_usa.zip"?) Where did you unzip it to? (this matters) What do you mean you re-zipped it? (Unzipping doesn't remove the original zip. Are you saying you deleted the original?) In what way did the map break? What were the symptoms? What did the console say when the map broke? (press the tilde key "~" )
Yep, that's where I got the zip from, I unzipped it to ./BeamNG.drive\content\levels\east_coast_usa moved the original to my desktop so I could hopefully fix it if I messed up something(although I just used steam to fix it), zipped up the unzipped folder and it didn't work. When I tried to load up the map the button to load it up didn't work at, and the thumbnail for the level was grey with the beamNG logo on it I think. I didn't even think to check the console. I assume I did something I wasn't supposed to do, so could someone explain the proper way to edit a scenario?
unzip the actual level contents to here instead: systemdrive:/Users/username/Documents/BeamNG.drive/levels/east_coast_usa in other words your .mis file should be residing in that path exactly after you finish extracting. (and the other files/folders such as prefabs should be beside it of course) I've got to log off for now. Do that, check the console, and report back.
Bingo. You may also get things to work by placing them in the mods folder like so: /username/BeamNG.drive/mods/levels/east_coast_usa but do not do that for level development. BeamNG will not like the path and will save files all over the place or fail to save. I'm not 100% sure what the correct path is for vehicle development.
