Is it possible for the Xbox's left joystick x-axis down/up to be the clutch? By this I mean, when I set it up in the controls the stick has to be pushed up for the clutch to be completely disengaged and down to be fully engaged. I though it'd be better if when the stick is centered, then the clutch is released. Then, when the stick is pushed up/down the clutch is then being engaged. There is a mod for GTAV where the clutch is set up like this so I thought it'd be cool for the game since I don't have $300 for an actual wheel and pedals and stuff.
I think that the clutch input is currently a boolean value (either in or out, eg on/off). Nobody is currently able to feather the clutch whether they own a $300 wheel or not. edit: see below
You are correct, oops! @zaruchen11 - [Most of] What you want can already be achieved. See the attached screenshot for a setup which functions. When the left joystick is at rest, so is the clutch pedal. When the left joystick is pressed upwards, the clutch pedal is depressed. When the left joystick is pressed downwards, nothing happens. Checking the "Inverted Axis" checkbox will flip the upwards and downwards actions. Note that I've: Assigned L-up/down to "Clutch" under Vehicle (which is in the Controls menu). Adjusted my deadzone to 0.5
I have mine set up so the clutch is fully engaged at center, and pushing it up disengages it. Only disadvantage is that I can't disengage the clutch and steer simultaneously.
That's why I wanted the clutch to be at rest when the stick is. That way you have turning and shifting abilities.
