From what I know, there aren't many "good" M3 mods out there, except for one that was borrowed from a meshslap modpack, and is now being worked on and actively being improved. Here: https://www.beamng.com/threads/bmw-3-series-e92-hotfix.85847/
I second the e92 hotfix. As someone who has an e92 as a daily driver I must admit that it's a pretty good mod. I didn't even realize it was a mesh slap until I read the above post. Collisions are good. Sounds are on point. Handling is like a dream.
Perhaps good sir, that is because it is, in fact, not a "meshslap?" This community applies the term to any add-on that originates outside of the forum on a 3rd-party hosting site, as a show of purism to content that originates within these forums. Feel free to disregard anyone referring to add-ons as "meshslaps."
Huh. That's unfortunate. I have somewhat noticed that there is kind of this distaste for any mods that are hosted outside of the repository and this forum. I know a lot of it is originated from unwanted rehostings and pirated content but it's a little unfair for the prejudice to get leveled against hardworking individuals with honest to goodness well-built mods. The e92 is literally my default car it's done so well. I always thought that the term mesh slap referred to simply using a 3D mesh on top of a stock vehicle. I guess that's what it originated as but it seems that like many buzz words, it is evolved to encompass something that it does not translate to literally.
I think it's less about originating outside the forums, and more a general suspicion towards real car models, since the majority of the classic russian-style meshslaps used ripped/bought models from other games. but I do agree "Meshslap" is overused these days, it seems most bodgy modders now at least have the decency to shuffle some node positions around, and roughly implement some configurable parts specific to that car.
