    Hello,

As many of you know (at least those of you interested in what I have to say which is really nobody but whatever) I'm building a computer. The computer build I had in mind was about $400 out of budget, but thanks to reconfiguring and just researching I've gotten that down to just over $100 over budget. So, looking for ways to cut that down, the first thing I found was the motherboard. The BeamNG requirements (high end) recommend a high end i5 or i7 or better, or a AMD 6 core or better. I'm looking at the AMD FX-6300 6 core, and I'm just wondering if this would be a good choice? The rest of my specs so far (mostly TBD) are as listed. Also, feel free to comment on the whole computer build, since none of this is set in stone.

Motherboard: MSI Z270 Pro Carbon Gaming at $149.99
    Processor: AMD FX-6300 6 core at $79.99
    GPU: Nvidia GeForce 1060 3GB at $219.00
SSD: Intel 600p 512GB (probably changing) at $200.21
Cooling: Cooler Master-Hyper 212 Universal (lots more text) at $29.99
    PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA G1 650W at $91.99
Case: DIYPC Solo-T1-BK Black USB 3.0 Mid-Tower Gaming Computer Case (I'm not sure if this is even compatible, I just used it as a placeholder for a cheaper case.) at $25.98
    Memory: G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 16GB (8GBx2) and they're DDR3 SDRAM 2.66 GHz
    Hard Drive: None for now

I'd love to hear from you guys!

that wont work, the z270 is a kaby lake intel mb and you cant put a amd cpu in a intel mb
also the fx6300 is about the same as a pentium g3258, so you should probably go for a ryzen 5 or i5 cpu

Alright, thanks. I was looking at the i5 7600K but it was just too pricey. Do you know of any cheaper i5s that will still run the game nicely?

i5 6500 will do, but i suggest the ryzen 5 1500x since you can overclock it with a b350 board
also, you posted this thread in the wrong section, you should post it in here: https://www.beamng.com/forums/computer-hardware.40/

Oh, whoops. I don't post enough to figure out all the thread stuff perfectly, so I just posted here instead. I don't really feel like overclocking, so I think I'll go with the i5 6500. Thanks for your help.

Don't buy an i5 if you're on a budget and like this game. Ryzen is a much, much better alternative and you'll be able to run 50% more vehicles on average than you would with an intel. Both Ryzen and intel processors from this year will both provide plenty of power even if they're only 3ghz models. Ryzen 1600/1600X models are excellent choice as they're around the cost of a 4-core 4-thread i5, and gives you SIX CORES and TWELVE threads. Great for gaming + streaming too. Do your research on hardware reviews and buy a known-working good RAM kit so you can gain an extra 10% performance for the extra 20$ a higher-end ram kit will cost you. Read reviews like www.guru3d.com 's Ryzen Re-test (it's a few pages off the 1st, shouldn't be further than 4~5 pages!), it shows how well it does with 2933~3200mhz RAM. With 2933mhz dual channel ram, with decent CAS LATENCY, a 4.0ghz Ryzen 8 core will best an intel 6900k 8-core (x99 chipset) cpu by 10%, even though the intel chip has QUAD channel memory at 2400mhz. This was done by a fellow Beamng.drive player using bananabench. TEN PERCENT. You would have to be an utter fool to buy an i5 if you love Beamng.drive.
Not being rude, just being honest. Over 20 years PC hardware experience here. Just trying to help.

Anyone who games with a half-decent video card, would be foolhardy to spend more to buy less (intel chip).
DO NOT REWARD INTEL FOR MILKING AND HOLDING BACK THE ENTIRE INDUSTRY WITH 2~4% YEARLY ADVANCES IN COMPUTING.

No seriously, read that. You get so much more, for less.
