I have a car model that has quite a lot of detail, and wondering if it would make sense to make a LOD variant to render at a greater distance. Does it work at all (since cars are deformable), and if it does, is any performance gain expected?
I tried to mimic how meshes are grouped in static objects, but no avail. The game either can't find the mesh or crashes. Is this even possible?
performance gain compared to how much the Jbeam itself is impacting performance would be in the 0.5fps or lower range, no point in trying LODs for vehicles
On my current system, it's the GPU that is getting stomped when there are multiple cars in sight. Especially if these are exported Automation vehicles, since these have simpler jbeams, but a lot of polygons and huge textures.
then use lower poly meshes instead of forza rips, they'll deform better too, instead of being spiky crap
These "options" are no use for the matter at hand. I'm trying to make my own model, and attempting to optimise it further. The response from developers is needed.
