    Overall seems to be running very well!
    However attempting to save a configured car seems to cause the game to hang for me, I waited for a good bit of time. This may be because my file system is case sensitive? I haven't tested it much but it appears to happen when saving any car so far.

    Currently running: Pop!_OS 22.04, Kernel 5.17.5, Nvidia Driver 510, on NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 Ti and AMD Ryzen 7 3800X

    Hey there, just wanted to say thank you BeamNG devs. Linux port is working magically well outside of the previously reported issues. Huge improvement over the version running under proton, particularly in AI traffic and performance. Happy to test things as they go, hope for you guys to add this as a Linux release under Steam so we can use it in the Steam environment.

    My specs: Arch Linux, Wayland, RX 5700XT, R9 3900X, 64GB DDR4 3600Mhz

    I am familiar with compositor internals and am a Linux developer so if you all need any help please let me know!

    Is anyone else having any issues related to loading east coast? I seem to be able to load other maps fine but east coast crashes my game whenever I load it.

    PC Specs: Arch Linux, i5 10400, 24GB RAM 3200mhz, RX 6700XT, the game is running off of an NVMe SSD.

    EDIT: Looks like it may be something in Mesa/RADv itself crashing (Apparently I can't post a gist.github link so modify as needed...) gist github com /2a7f84909347364f79b22c0b958018f7

    EDIT2: SAME on amdvlk. Something the Vulkan renderer is doing causes both the open source RADv and AMD's amdvlk to crash. Here's the unhelpful backtrace from that side as well gist github com /d97cde287fe2301f284bd38b5fb44773

    Some vehicles will cause the game to spam the same error to console and freeze the game when spawning as new. Replacing the current vehicle with any variation of the car causing these problems appears to fix it, even after game restarts. Seems to happen with every other car, starting with the ETK 800-Series and Bruckell Bastion. Tested several cars on Gridmap v2.

    EDIT: The fix appears to not work consistently, as the Civetta Scintilla appears to cause this error when spawning new and replacing current.

    Thank you, very useful find! We will look into it.

    Maps will appear to load much longer partially because with VK shader cache is generated during loading screen, while dx11 generates them after loading map, that's why you see slowly generating the map. So when you'll try to load the map a second time it should be much quicker.

    Any idea if having both a discrete and integrated GPU active in the system (similar to how it is in most laptops) is causing severe performance issues? As I mentioned previously, the Windows version via Proton is working correctly, possibly even better than Windows.

    The issue you’ve noticed:
    Each time I load a map that has a lot of detail (F/E, Hirochi Raceway), the game crashes

    This happens when:
    Just open on freeroam a heavy map (Like Hirochi Raceway), and it'll crash)

    So glad a native Linux port is in the works!

    The UI feels very quick, faster than I remember it ever being. Great work on the enhancements there. As read above, the first map load takes a very long time, but sequential loads of that map are much faster. I have just run into an issue, regarding changing the graphical quality:

    The issue:
    I launched the game and it defaulted to "normal" graphical settings (AO, light rays, etc. enabled). After loading Small Island, I changed the graphical quality to the "low" preset. The game froze, but did not crash, until I terminated it through the terminal via Ctrl+C a few minutes later.

    Changing presets when a map is loaded will crash it most of the time. Doing the changes on the main menu before loading into a map works a lot better.

    I've reported a few of these through the crash reporter. Not sure if that's sending the requisite data.

    Additional info that may be useful:
    Running a two screen setup, a 14" 1080p 60hz laptop on the left, and a 27" 1080p 75hz monitor on the front. Using the wayland compositor, BeamNG running in XWayland mode. Game was running on the primary (27") monitor, already at 75hz before setting mode to fullscreen. Will try running with gamescope to see if the problem is with Mutter or XWayland.

    Probably a larger issue at hand. It does the same thing on single screen X11. Always have to resize the window for main menu/fullscreen changes.

    When launched with gamescope:

    Changing from windowed to fullscreen and back worked fine, as well as changing the resolution. However the "Failed to get DPI scale for Monitor 0" issue clogs the terminal output, as noted previously.

    Hello, thanks for making an official Linux build, that will hopefully make the game a better experience, without bad performance with traffic enabled, most likely due to Proton!
    • I changed the resolution settings (game and interface) and graphics options in-game (from 1080p to 1440p), and now the game hangs at startup.
    • Also, when I could start it, I noticed a weird behaviour when spawning traffic, I get about the exact same FPS with and without it, about 65 to 80fps. (tested on East coast, ultra settings, auto vehicle count, should be 10 since my cpu is 10C/20T) I will test on windows 11 and report if that behaviour is the same.
    • Changing from windowed to fullscreen worked, but I kept getting prompts that the game is not responding, except it was running fine and I could drive around.
    CPU: i9-10850K
    RAM: 16GB (2x8GB)
    GPU: GTX 1080Ti with proprietary drivers (version 515.48.07)
    Game on an ext4 partition, system on another ext4 partition on a different drive.
    Running Arch Linux, updated yesterday or so, should be up to date enough

    I was able to start the game again, by editing the game-settings.cs file and setting the resolution back from 2560x1440 to 1920x1080 and the window mode to Windowed from Borderless. Maybe borderless is the problem here...

    Thanks a lot for this native version. Apart from the problems mentioned in the first post, everything else went really well for me. The best thing was to see that the performance was much better than with Proton, and that the AI didn't penalise it as much. Also is good to see that FFB in my G29 works great (I use new-lg4ff)

    So I seem to have 3 issues I don't see mentioned here:

    1. I have 5 screens on the i3wm window manager. ****If I enable even two, the performance is heavily degraded. In my normal configuration the game is nearly unplayable because it studders so much.**** This doesn't seem to change no matter where I put the graphics settings, full screen, etc. If I only have one monitor enabled it's butter smooth and perfect.

    EDIT: Turns out this is not actually the screen configuration but the number of other applications. Apparently having multiple browsers/chat/etc. that I normally have open heavily impacts the performance of the game when running natively, while I can have all this running just fine with the proton version with no issues.

    2. I have several input devices. A Thrustmaster t300rs wheel (using the hid_tmff_new driver https://github.com/Kimplul/hid-tmff2), FFB works great btw!, A Thrustmaster T500 shifter, and an arduino handbrake. When I set a binding for a button on the wheel, and then for a button on the shifter, they are both labeled "button0" for example and the controller configuration warns that there is an overlap when in fact they belong to different devices.

    3. (maybe related to #2) Shifting seems to not be consistent at least on the vivace gravel rally sequential. Using the paddles on the wheel if I shift in to first it pretty much immediately goes back to neutral in "realistic" mode with everything off. Even if the vehicle is moving. It also doesn't stay on the gear I choose. If I use the H pattern shifter for selecting the gear it works if I keep them in order and doesn't "pop out".

    Never have I seen such consistent frame times in BeamNG. I don't remember it feeling this smooth ever! Never dropped below 90fps on garage to garage scenario, traffic amount left on auto.

    I'm going to wait for the audio hotfix as that is a deal breaker for long term play.

    I can't enable exclusive fullscreen mode, but this could just be my window manager. It does work ok via Proton though.

    Well done team, you've done an incredible job.

    More findings

    -RAM usage is very high
    -Camera thumb stick is inverted in the vertical axis

    Somehow managed to get it working in fullscreen, but I'm using Xorg still on my Manjaro install. I'll try it later with Wayland.

    Regardless, stellar results so far since I can never recall BeamNG running this smooth before, and with several AI vehicles it's still GPU-bound.

    Italy, Crossroads on Normal got a nice 132 FPS and was GPU-bound on native while Proton only got 82 FPS and was CPU-bound.

    EDIT:
    Getting it to fullscreen is a bit of a hack:
    • Select fullscreen, game maximizes
    • Pull the game title bar down, or restore the window
    However, it does make it hang on next startup but resizing the broken window will get it to respond again back in windowed mode.
