Hello, Because I'm bored and because I think it would be cool if there was a rest area in the Italian map , I thought I'd build one myself with the F11 editor! What it will have: -A large 3-storey supermarket -A small gas station supermarket -A rest area restroom -A bus and truck parking lot -Car parking lots -A bridge to the other side of the highway -A noise barrier for the rest area A self-drawn plan of what the rest area could look like: IMPORTANT INFORMATION!!! I have school every week until Friday from 7am to 1pm! On Thursday I even have school until 4pm! I will also make a hyperlapse video from screenshots of the build, as seen on many hyperlapse building construction videos!
I know that hardly anyone or nobody will download this mod in the future... But I just want to do it and whoever wants to download it in the future can do it then
Interesting design for the other lane to reach the station, never seen that here. Usually rest-areas are located either on one side or both side. If only one side is available, usually for the other lane is located a few KMs apart.
I had the idea when I realized how I used to drive to a rest area at night in ETS2 and after sleeping I drove over the bridge to the other rest area and back again. I don't know if this rest area came from a mod in ETS2 or if it was original...
The metal plates for traffic to drive over will now be installed and then the rest area construction will begin!
It should be a mod that overwrites Italy, but unfortunately I don't know how it works because I've never made a mod before... Can someone please give me a tutorial video for this if there is one?
I don't like to make a video but I can give you a coarse roadmap if you like: 1. Start the Italy map 2. Make some changes (as you did). Alter objects and terrain. 3. Save (as you may did) (Save as does not work! It's a trap! LOL) 4. Close BeamNG 5. Open your user folder 6. Locate levels/italy/ 7. Rename this folder to the project name other than italy. Cange all necessary entries and filenames. Do not copy any assets or materials. Do not change their paths. You will then have an own map project referencing to the vanilla italy map but with an independent name, scene tree and terrain. This will be relatively small in size. I can help you to achieve this step if you like. 8. Open BeamNG and load the new named map. 9. Go on with your work. Do not alter materials or other resources. Simply save. Don't forget to backup EVERY TIME (!!!!!!!!) 10. Pack the new map in a zip and give it to the repository... Overwriting Italy is not a good idea, though. I hope that helps a bit and gives you a little overview of what to do. Thumbs up for your project! --- Post updated --- Addition: The other more common way is to make a complete copy of italy and make a own map out of it. In this case AlexKid71's tool can help a lot.
Sorry for bumping my own thread! After a month full of s***, I'm getting on with the project! And also sorry that I haven't done anything for so long... Here's a small photo of the construction site: --- Post updated --- By the way, I'm trying to build all this in BeamNG WITHOUT using Blender! Because I'm too stupid for Blender lol. --- Post updated --- I've just seen that BeamNG have released new TeaserTuesdays. That means I have to hurry a bit, otherwise the update will be out and I won't be able to continue the project because it was removed from the world by the new update...
Here is a screenshot of the construction site! By the way, these airport lamps should be there as a light source for building in the dark. Unfortunately, I couldn't find anything else in the map for generating lights, so I just used that. --- Post updated --- These are all the screenshots for the Hyperlapse video so far:
So... Now the problem is here The update is out and unfortunately I can no longer start the old version... That means I would have to restart the whole project... Sorry guys I'm going to start the latest version to see if my project is still there! I hope it is Unfortunately it is no longer there...
It should still be there, if you saved your changes. But in the old user folder for 0.33. At least that's the case on my end for my map changes. You can go to the old user folder by first going to the new one, eg. through the launcher. From there, click on "BeamNG.drive" in the bar at the top which shows where you are. There should be a list of all your BeamNG versions. Go to 0.33 and copy the levels-folder to your 0.34 user folder. The levels-folder contains all your changes to maps. After doing that, your changes should be back
