isnt 3 gears a lot for 1953

    the supermatic has 3 gears, isnt this really high considering most cars had powerglides and dynaflows that have 2 speeds

    There were plenty of 3- and even 4-speed automatics in the early 50s.

    oh okay, didnt realise they had that many gears, i thought that the lowest was a single gear and topping out at 2 gears and variable pitch stators in the torque converter, this car does go well with 3 gears though
