I'm making an electric engine mod, but I can't find a way to change the sound of my specific engine without changing the sound of the gas variants or creating a separate car. Is there a way to apply the sound to only my electric engine, or do I have to create a separate vehicle file?
Take a look at this thread: http://www.beamng.com/threads/custom-sounds-for-beamng-0-4-2-0.16077/ Basically, your engine (electric motor in this case...) needs to have a different soundGroup. Unfortunately you can't disable the original sound without changing the original engine too.
Bummer. On the bright side, I'll be able to change everything about the car now, so that's nice Thanks.
You know... this should actually be added as a feature... that way if you swap a V8 into a 4 cylinder, or an electric motor, or a turbine or something... the sound would come along with it. That's actually a pretty good idea.
