Is there a way to grab nodes without throwing the car everywhere?

    [READ-IMPORTANT]
    In this post, I will be using some common & uncommon slang and terms from the Demolition Derby world, each BOLD LETTERED word will have a definition & picture at the end of the post.

    [QUESTION]
    Is there a way to move the nodes of vehicles without launching/dragging the vehicle with it? Specifically without having to adjust gravity settings? If not in the base game, are there any mods that could help?

    [EXAMPLE]
    For example, I'm using a vehicle as a derby derby vehicle, however I want to PRE-BEND the vehicle so it lasts longer & doesn't end up Bellying, Banana-Splitting, Digging Down or Anchoring itself.

    So far I've been using 100% node grab strength as well as increased gravity. As far as node grab strength goes, all it does is rip parts off or toss the vehicle in the air. So to counter-act this, I increased the gravity, however doing so damages the vehicle more than I would like, as the gravity pulls the vehicle down, which stops the node grabber from tossing the vehicle around, but damages the wheels, sometimes even rupturing the fuel tank and breaking the radiator.

    I love using the node grabber as it helps me add my own personal touch on my derby vehicles, each one is completely different, none of them are the same, making each one bend, twist, and break differently by pre-bending the body and frame.

    It takes a long time to do this, around 5-15 minutes, and occasionally it ruins it entirely due to gravity breaking parts or the vehicle being tossed around.

    Is there any way to do this in the base game, or is there any mods to assist?

    For example, something that can lock the vehicle in place without having to pause the physics, a script that can make the node grabber stronger without throwing the vehicle around, or a script that makes it so you can respawn/recover the vehicle but still have the body damage without broken drive-shafts/axels/engines/wheels etc etc.

    Any input/Advice is appreciated, thanks!

    [DEFINITIONS & PICTURES]

    PRE-BEND:
    The act of bending/folding the body and/or frame of the vehicle before(pre) the event so during the event, when hit, the frame & body bend UP like this;

    Instead of DOWN like this;

    BELLYING/BANANA SPLITTING:
    The result of either pre-bending too much, or too many hits to both ends. Which ends up bending/folding the vehicle upwards at both ends to the point the car can't move or has very limited movement due to the tires being off the ground or the frame "Anchoring" itself. Resembles a banana or a pot bellied pig. Mostly happens in banger racing, however occasionally occurs in regular demolition derbies as well.

    DIGGING DOWN:

    The most common result of not pre-bending. Where the frame bends/folds downwards from hits, eventually resulting in the frame of the vehicle digging down into the ground, stopping the vehicle entirely("Anchoring" itself). Occurs mostly in stock or pro-stock derbies.

    ANCHORING:

    The result of so many hard hits ultimately bending/folding the frame so much that either the front or rear wheels don't have contact with the ground, resulting in the frame acting as an anchor, "Anchoring" the vehicle to the spot. Also used as another term for "Digging Down"

    Encase you're wondering, yes, I do this type of thing for a living. No, not derby stuff, I mean writing articles and information pieces.

    Well, you cannot just move a node.
    All the nodes in a vehicle are interconnected with beams. Push one, and it will affect the other ones too.

    What you can do is fix your vehicle with the Node Grabber (middle click anywhere to fix a node).

    That will prevent your vehicle flying into outerspace if you start pushing/pulling nodes at maximum strength.
