It has the Intel Core i7 9750H processor, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 graphics card and 32 gb of memory and I've been getting a decent amount of lag. When I first bought the laptop it ran fine without any lag but has recently started. Beam is the only thing other than Steam I have installed on it.

Thermal throttling? Check the temperatures with something like HWMonitor

Clean out the dust from the vents and buy a cooling pad. If that doesn't work, take it apart and reapply thermal paste/do a deeper clean.

Well i have nearly the same laptop.
Intel security patches are the problem!
There is one tool to deactivate Spectre/Meltdown, but with each windows update our Intel CPU gets slower and slower.
Lag is getting more and more.

Thats why i prefer AMD now over Intel.
Next Laptop will be a ryzen cpu.
