Is it possible to rebind buttons.......

Without losing functionality in other vehicles on the same map that use the same buttons?

I don't get why I can't have buttons on my controller tied to a plane, then when I'm not flying the plane, I can just use the controller to drive a car without having to go back to rebind them back to the car.

I went to drive a car while the plane crashed and couldn't, because the game recognizes the controls for the plane and not the car, even though I have like the right trigger for throttle on both the plane and car.

I'll admit I'm ignorant when it comes to this stuff, so it may be a thing that I can't figure out. I typed in my question in the search bar and it came back with no results.
