For example the mod "Drifting UI" (https://www.beamng.com/resources/drifting-ui.2971/reviews) isn't working anymore since some UI app related stuff changed. I really enjoyed this mod and wanted to continue to use it. The fix is easy enough by changing a single line of code.

Now in the reviews there's already 2 people hoping for a fix but the author hasn't been active here in 3 years and probably won't come back I guess.

Is it alright to post a link to the fixed version in those reviews or would that be considered not ok without permission from the author? If not, what'd be the best way of informing people who want to play this mod that there's a working version?

Yes, but only if you get permission from who made it.
