Seriously This truck is ridiculously easy to control (even when trying to drift). Is it just me or is this for every one? Also this is my new favorite car in the game, I thought I would hate it.
Well, the config you have shown has race tires equipped so that raises the traction even more, making it even more easy to drive. And it is not what I would call "Fast" Compared to some other SUV's. But I do find it feels a little top-heavy at times. Some people who have no concept and are used to "Arcade Handling" as I like to call it (Full throttle, still make a hair-pin turn no matter what) Might struggle with the more realistic driving experience beamng has. That is the only way that players may find the Hopper uncontrollable. It depends on the driving attitude that the player has that can make a car "Difficult" to drive.
Well lack power isn't it because it's still controllable even with a modded 5.5 liter V8 (what i was using in the picture).
I took a custom config Hopper, put 33" tires on it, automatic gearbox, no swaybars and off road suspension in that one, I can drive 90mph to almost any corner at ECA without any kind of fear of the thing flipping over, only problem can be understeer, if it oversteers that is very easy to control, not going to bite/snap at all. Bodyroll when driving fast to corner is quite limited. Maybe 0.8 had bit excessive bodyroll, but I think that 0.9 has quite bit too little, I can take a semi and drive same 90mph to corners, it will just drift trough the corners. So perhaps they did go bit too far in limiting rolling over tendency of vehicles and bit more bite might be needed? Update: (fixed typo on tire size) This video is with default Custom config, except I changed automatic transmission and have 1 mod enabled, Rusty's RB26 sound for Hopper, setup is default for the config, I think that driving like this should tip 4x4 over even on tarmac?: On sand it digs in an fells over like one might except, but on pavement, I think there should be more grip bit on pavement than on other surfaces even tires should not be as good on pavement as street tires, now I kind miss that bite that in 0.8 did send car fishtailing, maybe it needs to be adjusted to have bit more bite? --- Post updated --- I got something around 0.7G's on grass and 0.8G's on tarmac for off road config, I don't really know how much similar Jeep would get, but maybe bit high, considering VW Passat of early 2000 got 0.78G's if I recall correctly, could be 0.82G's too. --- Post updated --- 255/50/15 GripAll Radials gave me bit over 0.9G's on Hirochi parking lot with Offroad Hopper. Then I decided to take a lap on Hirochi, keep on eye of that G-force display: Next I wanted to test a Semi, not sure what is going on in here, but when sliding I noticed number going over 2G's, I know that Semi should have 0.5 to 0.6G's on skidpad IRL, haven't tested in game. I guess devs are aware about this, new physics and everyhing needs probably much more tuning what they have had time to do. Update: If I'm not mistaken badly, it seems that when turning right, G-force app is showing lot higher reading than when turning left. Update: Oh and I just remembered that not all tires are yet converted to new model, can't rememeber which were and which were not, so that has something to do with this all too, but I'm sure they will finetune things as they have time to spent for that.
