In way over my head (Time Trial Creation)

    Not a clue if this goes here because its not exactly content creation, but not exactly official content either?

    My friends and I like doing time trial challenges for automation export cars and have gotten a little bit bored of the vanilla maps. We found a mod with very interesting design we wanted to use for a time trial, however, it does not come with any time trials pre-loaded.

    My friends have tasked me with creating a time trial from scratch so that we can race this map, but I have never modded in my life, never played with the editor in my life, and am a little bit computer dumb.

    And still have no clue what in the heck I am doing.

    my UI is different than that of the video, and that alone is enough to confuse me...

    I do feel some genuine frustration that I can active test an abs solenoid on an actual car, but can't figure out how to make a mini race in a virtual game level.

    (yes the second to last sentence was me trying to salvage at least a little bit of confidence over my lack of technical skill, sorry)

    I've never used the editor before (the old or the new one), but I managed to get a working time trial, but it works only once. If you reset the vehicle, checkpoints I passed are gone and checkpoints I did not pass don't work. :-( As if the checkpoints do not reset when I reset the car.

    This is what I figured out by trial and error, so bear with me.

    The video in this thread is a good start.
    In the new editor, at the top menu go to window, then gameplay and then race/path editor.
    In the race tool window you can set pathnodes (checkpoints), segments (cp to cp), start position, start and endpoint and name/info about it.
    I'm not sure if you need a .prefab file, haven't tried without one. (I just copied one from the game files like the video suggested)
    If you save the file, they show up in the folder "BeamNG/0.22.1.0/flowEditor/racepathDemo" as <name>.race.json

    In the "BeamNG/0.22.1.0/Mods" folder makes a folder structure "unpacked/<name_of_mod>/levels/<name_of_map_you're_using>/quickrace" and move the files from the racepathDemo folder to this one.
    I suppose you can have multiple timetrials for the same map in the quickrace folder.
    Close editor, go back to main menu but don't save. If you then Play a time trial, it should show up when you pick the map.

    Like I said: I can only get it to work once. If you reset the vehicle, or finish the track and either try again or change config, the checkpoints you passed are gone and the ones you didn't pass don't work.
    You can go back to the main menu and start it again, but that shouldn't be necessary .
    Looking into that, couldn't figure it out for now. I'd like to know as well if anyone has a solution for that.
