Hey all at BeamNG, I'm new to the game and am loving it. I want to now be able to play with my Xbox 360 wired controller, so I installed the drivers and some required software. The controller is registering and tests well in the computer, but in the game it reacts as if there is no controller plugged in! I've tried as much as I know, so anything will help a lot. If anyone can figure out why the game doesn't know that I have a controller plugged in I would greatly appreciate some assistance. Also, where is the engine file to edit traits of vehicles? I cannot find it. :/

If its the official xbox 360 controller and not an aftermarket one then you just have to plug the controller in, THEN launch the game. The game doesnt support hotswapping input devices so to get the game to recognise Y device, it has to be plugged in before the game starts.

If it is an aftermarket xbox controller you need a custom input map. I haven't played with these, forum search will tell you more than I can.

Engine files vary vehicle to vehicle. Find your BeamNG install folder and there is a folder called vehicles (if you installed any mods, you should know where this is). Inside that is a folder for each vehicle. Inside that folder you tend to have a model file (.dae extension) some textures and some JBeam files. The JBeams have all the collision data, suspension, engines and transmissions etc in them. You can open them with notepad. However which file has the engine in it varies vehicle to vehicle. In the case of the pickup you actually have a seperate JBeam for each engine.

My gosh you are helpful. I was using an aftermarket controller for testing things but never tried anything different with my official controller. And I cannot believe I missed those engine files. :D Thank you!
