Illegal characters in IRC

Anybody have an idea on how to fix this? And if not, why the heck are NUMBERS banned in the irc? It's not a big deal, ive never had the urge to use it. I'm just curious

 

idk why it's kicking you... try a real IRC client instead? Hexchat is easy to use...

Numbers are not banned... I use it a bit now, and it doesn't kick me.

 

I think it's interpreting the numbers in front of your name as color codes... maybe.

Ha, well phuckit. no beamng hexchat for me. oh well

 

try a diff client? (i suggest icechat, very powerful client)

 

Downloading I'm going to have 20 irc programs here by the time im finished, all for something i dont really care about. Boredom does weird stuff

Yeah, icechat isnt connecting to the server. I appreciate the help guys, but i think this irc thing is dead for me

 

change your name to have the numbers at the end instead

 

My icechat name doesnt have any numbers at all. I cant change my name on the beamng chat page. and like i said, i just give up

 

Sorry about the issue you are facing.
Unfortunately you are unable to join the IRC channel with a nick name beginning with a number.
Here is a link to an IRC client that will connect to our IRC server: http://idealirc.org
Use the following information to connect:
host/server: 3phasegaming.net
port: 6667
channel: #BeamNG
Once setup and connected, enter /join #BeamNG to join us on IRC.

This issue has arose before, I'll see if I can have any username beginning with a number be changed to a guest_* nick name.

 

I myself use IdealIRC on the occasion I am in need of an IRC client, although I rarely ever use IRC and offtopic on 3phasegaming is certainly one I haven't had the best experience in.

EDIT: If you have any programming experience. Rolling your own IRC client is an interesting exercise.
