UPDATE for new readers: what I'm saying in the title and the following quote, is how I used to think of the game and its state out of sheer frustration and not knowing about better places to leave such a rant. However, even as it is the past version of myself being a toddler, I have no choice but to be honest of it and try to improve. By now, I know better when it comes to the game and how to communicate the bugs in it (or if it becomes overwhelming, I promise to just scream into a pillow before posting). Anyway, here's how I lashed out in the recent past:
Sorry about losing your work, but maybe the issue is on your side? I haven’t had issues with replays disappearing. And for the map loading thing, I’ve had that happen, I think the devs are trying to fix it As with any game (especially a game with advanced physics), you have to expect some bugs. New bugs pop up all the time, and some might be more difficult to fix than others. And as I said before, they are probably trying to fix it. I don’t think replays are supposed to be a prank, it’s a relatively new feature and will come with bugs, I’ve experienced some myself. You just have to work around them. The devs are truly trying their best, it’s a lot of work maintaining a game like this. Again, sorry about losing your work, but you just have to remember that only so many things can be buggy, especially with a game like this.
i guess we have to agree to disagree. I cant recommend BeamNG enough, While i respect you're dislike of it, It has very good revives for a reason ( i think so ) Its one of the only games i play ( and CMS 2021 and GTA 4 ) I hope one day beamng can be all you wanted and more in good time
The "Replay" feature, I assure you, is not a prank. However, I do have to admit, while I'm not speaking on behalf of the dev team, I do have a feeling that the replay feature is, in fact, after all these years, still in its experimental phase, despite them having (probably) never updated it since they last showcased it on their YT channel, which was... what? 6-7 years ago? Probably even older. And if anything EVER changes or updates, the car mod, the map, the game itself, even for a few bugfixes or whatever, you lose all compatibility with previous replays that were on the version before, despite not much having been changed. But you gotta give it to the devs. The replay feature they integrated, which includes not only recording the vehicles position on that specific map, but also the RPM at that time, the speed, the throttle input, brake input, possibly even the INDIVIDUAL TIRE LOADS FOR EACH TIRE just to give the most accurate replay they can, is a very complicated system that might take months just to fix one thing, and it's not on their main priority list right now, because they want to do SO much more than just fix existing features. They want to add new vehicles, new maps, new things, all sorts of stuff. And if they're gonna get bogged down with all of that just to fix the replay feature, which, let's be honest; only a FEW people care about, then it's really going to make all that motivation fizzle out. Just let the devs do their things first, be patient and I'm sure they will eventually come around to fixing that replay system.
Hey, really sorry you're having issues, that always sucks to hear.. If you're still playing the game and are willing to provide detailed info, then we could have a chance to look into the issues and try to solve it. Very often people think that their particular problems are being suffered by all users, while in reality it might be a corner case that very few suffer (and us devs don't see it either). So your feedback is crucial to identify the bugs: in particular, we would need to know detailed steps to reproduce whatever issue or issues you have (no matter if you think the steps are obvious and that it's easy to suffer the bug, because that may not be the case). I understand if you're frustrated and don't want to dedicate any effort to reply, so no worries in that case (but keep in mind that unfortunately would mean we cannot even try to fix the situation).
Hey Buddy. You see u ADRESS your message to Developers? yo no what DEVELOPERS ARE? They devlop! Thay make the game. Perhaps if you tink about what you say YOU WILL SEE THAT YOU DONT UNDERTAND WHAT A DEVELOPINGER IS. this game is not ready for the Public people. It’s not a released game. It a pre made version. That man’s there will be bugs etc as the DEVELOPERS DEVELOP buddy
Holy crap. I had already moved on and never realized that the thread would get THIS many replies. Anyway, I ended up redoing what I had gone for and finally got it to the video editing phase. And yes, the game got an update as the project was going on. The replay still is what it is, but I'm still glad of the end result, that I just posted at the Community Videos.
if you hate the game this much then just stop playing and the game is still in alpha it's been in alpha for 10 years the dev's have more things to do and add then just bug fixes and wdym all this time to fix bug's? the only real bug's are pretty new how about just write a petty steam review instead of this crap yeah see if you can make a game with all overwhelmingly positive reviews have a bad rep bub ranting on the internet about how much you hate this game is just stupid if you don't like it you could also get a refund if you did not play it too much i know i make insanely stupid post's but this? Jesus i can't believe dev's can be so nice to people like you! and me. and it seems you are checking this thread a lot why? you want to see if anyone finally says this thread is useless? --- Post updated --- and maybe another reason for you thinking the game is bad is because well optimization for it is not very good --- Post updated --- why on earth did i not notice that post
Hello. Lately, I’ve been working on a lot of projects using the replay editor. I have used it with the camera path editor and the ScriptAI editor. Both together I’ve never had any’ issues with using the replay editor in the last 2 years of the game. In prior versions I was having constant freezing and buggy replays, but in 0.31 I’ve recorded over 100 replays and none had any issues. What I do consider buggy is the scriptAI editor, which often spawns the car diagonally and messes up an movement. I also had issues with it spawning the cars through the map falling until I remove the path and respawn, which really annoys me when I spend 25 minutes perfecting the movement. i think you are a bit harsh on the developers of the game, and judging by the issues you are having consider reinstalling the game or clearing the cache. I do understand that many things implemented in beamNG have quesitonable behavior like replays which can’t change the position of the sky and such but otherwise we can’t do anything --- Post updated --- Also the issue with GPUs is very frustrating if you have a AMD gpu like I used to have. Very common and annoying issue.
I only seem to have issues if I quit and restart the game after recording a replay. The video that I posted, was basically made and captured to MP4 clips in one sitting, meaning that whenever I took a break, I left the game on (thankfully, I didn't have to do the script AI paths all over again). My previous replay had become unplayable (the game just crashed when trying to open it), which is when I made this thread. Keeping the game on just might be the only way to capture everything necessary, unless it just has to be reinstalled or something. In any case, it's just too amazing to give up on, when everything works out .
Not just to play the game. There are moments when I just want to drive around with a van, or a SUV, or a truck using my steering wheel. But when I intend to include my session on a video, then yes. It just adds to the experience when there's more than "the game camera" hovering around your car.
A custom-built PC with: Motherboard: Asrock H610M-HVS mATX CPU: Intel Core i5-12400F GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 1650 D6 VENTUS XS OCV1 RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3200 MHz 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) Storage: WD Green 1 TB SATA III SSD 2,5" -SSD Cooling: 2 Arctic P12 PWM fans via a fan splitter System: Microsoft Windows 11 Home - 64-bit So far, it's been good enough for at least 30 fps with High and Ultra graphics on 1080p, which is the max resolution of my screen anyways. For videos, I just slow down the replay when capturing it and then correct it when I edit the recordings.
Bug is normal. If you dislike the bug, please don't use anything digital. Complain here is useless. Devs provide you countless way to report the bug, but you didn't use any.
Well, they are aware of it now and will most likely have it fixed in the next update. But yeah, even in the video description, he says "the developers don't give a damn". I get his frustration, but they definitely do. Either way, issues like these may go unreported/undetected because out of everyone that plays the game, not everyone uses the replay feature. It's not easy releasing something with no bugs, especially for features that not many people use. Anyway, glad you got the video out, but I suppose keep an eye on the changelog for the next update and pray it gets fixed.
