While Assetto Corsa (original one) is my main and favorite sim, i'm currently switching between Beam and AC on Nordschleife, and can't decide which physics and FFB i enjoy more. After a longer Beam session when i switch to AC the FFB seems a bit too much and maybe kinda "too" informative. I feel like i'm making less mistakes in Beam (i'm sure the amazing and more informative tire noise sounds add up to that). Also not sure i will ever get the FFB to feel just right in Beam, at the moment it's 200 strength and 150 smoothing, which feels best atm on my Driving Force GT wheel. How would you rate Beam's FFB and physics, do you think it's up there with the top sims? For me i think it is, perhaps just a few more tweaks to FFB.
i think its better than assetto corsa because the cars dont understeer like they weight a million pounds
Ive always thought FFB is lacking some form of communication from the cars weight distribution. Its hard to feel when your on the edge of grip and so on. Ive actually created a FFB mod that lets you increase the Side Accel Feedback to alot more than vanilla. This helps me move towards what i want nore. Ive read a few papers (cant find many tbh) online and one stated that driver g-forces should be approx. 80% of the ffb. As far as i know the Side Accel Feedback is the only way to feel what everything else but the front wheels do, since i think BeamNG pickups the FFB from the steering tie rod ends. Heres the mod if you want to try it. Along with my settings for acouple of stuff if you dont already set those: https://www.beamng.com/threads/ffb-mod.83708/
I don't have a lot to say because I'm not very articulate with words due to a neurological issue, but it seems like the FFB in every sim is artificially boosted with details & what not, going directly from the wheels to your steering wheel, where as in BeamNG, you feel what you would in a real car - no unnecessary jitter, random jolts etc. It's kind of a matter of good FFB vs. real FFB
