I just love the way that BeamNG is so easily moddable, you can change so much about a vehicle to make it perform as you wish. I've found out a few important things you can change that can really make the game even more fun than it already is. I'll do my best to show all of those who do not know how to change three things, Engine performance, Tire/Tyre grip levels and something that may not be all that important but I can show you how to change the steering lock. First things first; for the engine modifications you will need to download an engine pack first as it makes it much easier and you aren't modifying the original engines. The mod pack Additional-Engine-Pack-From-a-Facepunch-Forum-s-user You will need to install this. If you have trouble installing the engine pack itself, I can either teach you how or I can easily make another thread for you. I'll do my best to explain how to do everything and I'll include as many photos as I can but if you do not understand anything I am more than happy to help you out. To modify the engine- Photos 1 to 6 Make sure you have downloaded the engine pack and installed it correctly as it makes for a good starting point 1. Find your BeamNG main folder 2. Open this and then open the folder "BeamNG.drive" 3. Find the vehicles folder and open it 4. Find the folder of the vehicle you want to modify and open it 5. Find the engine JBEAM e.g "hatch_engine_500hp", when you find this file you HAVE to open it in Notepad or any other text editing program 6. Once you have opened this file you will see a whole heap of what looks like random letters and numbers. Don't be overwhelmed by this because we are only editing a few simple numbers 7. Under engine torque you will see something like this: ["rpm", "torque"] [0, 0], [500, 1360], [1000, 1472], [2000, 1528], The first number in the bracket is the RPM and the second number is how much Torque the engine makes at that RPM, you can change the power value to whatever you please now. 8. If you want to have a higher RPM all you have to do is this. An engine for example has an RPM limit of 6000 and I want it to be 10000, it will look like this [0, 0], [500, 1360], [1000, 1472], [2000, 1528], [3000, 1672], [4000, 1682], [5000, 1712], [6000, 1876], To add a higher RPM you will need to add in the corresponding RPM and power values and also set the maximum RPM limit too [0, 0], [500, 1360], [1000, 1472], [2000, 1528], [3000, 1672], [4000, 1682], [5000, 1712], [6000, 1876], [7000, 1988], [8000, 2064], [9000, 2054], [10000, 2153], "engine":{ "idleRPM": 1000 "shiftDownRPM":3400, "shiftUpRPM":10400, "maxRPM":10500, 9. When you have finished make sure the RPM values have the bracket at the bottom or else it causes problems [9000, 2054], [10000, 2153], ], 10. To finish off, you have to click save as or else your changes do nothing. To change the tire/tyre grip levels-Photos 11 to 44 This might come in handy with stupidly powerful cars.... 1. Follow steps 1 to 4 of the engine modifying 2. Look for another JBEAM, it will be something like "hatch_wheels_F", when you find this open it.The F or R at the end of the file name is either Front or Rear. I would make a backup of this file just in case something may go wrong. 3. Once again open this in notepad before you begin 4. Scroll down until you find "//tire options" 5. Under this heading you will find "{"frictionCoef":3.0}," towards the bottom 6. This is the only number you will need to change, these are very effective so you may only need to change it from 2.0 to 3.0 or from 2.4 to 3.2 7. The higher the number the less wheelspin you will get, will drastically change how a car handles 8. When you are happy with the changes make sure you click save as to save the changes To change the steering lock-Photos 111 to 444 No idea of it's use but it is cool 1. Follow steps 1 to 4 of the engine modifying 2. Find the JBEAM called something like "hatch_suspension_F". You will only need the front suspension obviously 3. Open it in notepad like previously 4. Scroll straight to the bottom until you see things like this "hatch_steering": {" or "hatch_steering_rally": {" 5. In all the mumbo jumbo you will find this ["fh3r","s1r",{"factor":-0.26,"steeringWheelLock":460}], (The 460 is the steering rotation in degrees) ["fh3l","s1l",{"factor":0.26,"steeringWheelLock":460}], 6. All you need to change is the steering lock value, don't touch the 0.26 and -0.26 or else you will break the steering. I have only changed it up to 900 degrees but I'm sure you could go as high as you felt like 7. when you are done, click save as and you are done! I hope these instructions made some sort of sense to people, if they don't just ask and I'm more than happy to help you out.

Hey, very nice job, this is pretty comprehensive...it'd be great if you could update and further expand what you have learned in the future, to sort of make a really in depth tuning guide for "dummies" (like me)...One quick question, if you know, how do you adjust toe in/out on rear suspension on the h? (or any car for that matter) Trying to figure it out and nothing changes for me. I also have a thread in Support (http://www.beamng.com/threads/5482-Covet-Tuning-Help?p=64229#post64229) maybe Gabe will respond there with some more info, I tried what he recommended and nothing happened. Im new here, be nice lol thanks a lot
I'll update it with anything new that I learn, I haven't really looked into suspension geometry yet but I'll give it a go - - - Updated - - - Sarcasm?
Nice easy tutorial, can you make a tutorial on how to make cars weaker? I have modified (carnamehere)(parthere).jbeam, changing scarebeamstrength to something like 0.00000000000004 etc. but that doesn't seem to make it weaker, any help?
I'd love to help out but that's well out of my league, maybe try and contact Gabester or another "expert' in the field
