    Hi guys,

Call me stupid, but I can't figure out how to make a proper burnout, using a XBox controller.
Let say I take a Barstow Drag, I put it in drive, hold the brakes and accelerate but no wheel-spin.
    What am I doing wrong?
On the same subject, why is it not possible to rev the engine while in drive and hold the brakes? Should be possible with a real car, no?

Burn-outs, like in real life, are only possible in certain vehicles. The Barstow Drag isn't one of them; the huge drag radials are too sticky and the dinky front tires can't hold the tremendous acceleration the rest of the car is trying to carry out. The burn outs that drag racers do on the drag strip in real life are very quick and rarely held in place, and usually done on smaller, more street-friendly (and less grippy) drag radials.

There are only a few cars in BeamNG that can actually perform burn outs, just like in real life. The higher displacement Barstows, supercharged Gavrils, turbo 200BXs, and the V6 Pessima can all do burn outs fairly easily.

To do a good burn out with a RWD car, rev the engine to redline with the clutch in, squeeze the brakes maybe 70% - 80%, then drop the clutch/put in drive. If the engine stalls, you're giving too much brakes, and if the car moves forwards you're not giving enough brakes. For FWD, it's the same procedure, except use the handbrake instead of the brakes... and try reverse burnouts if the car starts dragging the rear wheels.

And, to answer your final question, no, it isn't possible to rev the engine in D, in BeamNG or in real life. After all, if the car is in D, the engine is coupled to the drivetrain and thus wheels so the car is trying to accelerate. So if you're holding the brakes, the engine can't freely rev - it's trying to push the car forward. It might be possible to raise the RPM a little bit when holding the brake in D, as the torque converter is a fluid coupling, but otherwise no.
