How to Connect and Use a Gamepad?

Hi, I have used this game several times now and decided to connect the XB1 controller up, however I'm unsure of how the entire process of connecting a gamepad is executed. If I could get a guide or walk through from someone that would be greatly appreciated!
Also I have the Elite Controller which has four paddles on the back of the controller for better gameplay. I was wondering if there is a method of connecting these extra four connections to the game so I can use them as a gear changing system like I do in other games like Forza etc.

It's simply plug&play, especially with the Xbox controllers.

I'm not too sure about how the paddles on the Elite controllers work: If they are new buttons that can be bind separately, then you should be able to use them fine.
Also we provide pre-made configuration for the standard Xbox controller, so chance is that your Elite controller paddles are simply not bind to anything by default.

First go to Options > Controls > Hardware and verify that your paddles work fine.
If they do, simply blind them to any action you prefer from Options > Controls > Bindings.
