I have an idea for a map and I want to know how big a 2048 resolution piece of terrain is, and how many I would need to fill up a space of 3.5 square miles. Thanks! :)

2048x2048 is just over 4 square kilometres, the standard size for in-game maps. Four of them would be plenty, assuming you want a square.

You can't have multiple terrains with collision, but you can set the squaresize of a 2048x2048 to whatever you want to get the desired size. It's basically a multiplier of whatever the base terrain or heightmap's size is.
