How do you do license plates?

Well, how do you do the license plates?

 

Well, I might as well tell you now but the developers apparently have something big and official coming with license plates. OK, so first, you need to find a license plate picture. You can use a generator such as this one, find an existing one online, or find a blank plate and edit in some text. Then, in paint.net, crop the image to best fit the actual plate, and resize it to 512x256 or any 2:1 ratio resolution, such as 1000x500, or 1500x750. Then, in paint.net, export the same picture twice as a DDS, one named licenseplate_d.dds and another one named licenseplate_s.dds. Then you place those files in mods\vehicles\common. The folder structure I mentioned most likely does not work in 0.5, but as I said, the developers have something planned.

Yes, the method I said utilizes this program.

 

I think they are, since this is a screenshot they the devs put in the main menu a few updates ago, and we don't have it in-game. The plate says: BEAM

 

Some of the code is already in game, just not hooked up yet...
