I am a noob at GIMP, so I have no idea what to do. The wiki doesn't help. I wanna make a skin for the Wentward. What do I do with the UVs? I saw a tutorial but it was really fast and there was just music - not helpful at all.

You load the paint in the Paint Design. It's called upload_2019-5-28_17-44-5.png

Separate the decals onto s separate layer, then turn the grid's opacity to 0

Have a look on the wiki: https://wiki.beamng.com/Skin_Creation_Megapage :)

And FYI UVs are basically just there to help you figure out where things go, you don't include it in the final image.

Uvs are created in the 3d app, you cannot change them outside of it, only edit what is shown on them. =)

    UV literally translates to,

    U: "left/right" direction
    V: "up/down" direction

A UV map is created when working in your 3D app to tell the textures how to stretch over the polygonal surface. Once you build it, a UV MAP is generated. Its why some uv maps are human readable and others are just a mess of randomly rotated and skewed shapes.

So what you're after is simply redrawing textures that are based on UV maps =)
