Hot Lapping Tool not working?

I've used the hot-lapping tool ui app to test the car mods I've worked on for years, and getting reliable lap-time data is crucial for balancing configs.

However, after the 0.33 update, the Start Hotlapping button places this new bubble checkpoint with an arrow, and driving through it does nothing, it does not start a timer or anything. Before the update, I would simply press the start hot lapping button, drive a lap, and when I passed through the checkpoint it would time a lap.

In addition, I went to the Time Trials mode in-game, and it will not record individual lap times for say if I set Hirochi to 10 laps and do it that way unless I finish the event, which is not convenient since I can't just make live edits to my unpacked mods without going to freeroam, making sure my edits worked, and reloading the time trial each time. I'm not sure if this was always the case, but I remember it showing individual lap times during the event in the past.

At first, I thought it was maybe because my mod cars have weird refnodes or something, but no, this happens on a clean install with no mods with vanilla cars on default configs.

Has the app's functionality changed or has it broken with the update? If it is broken, can we get a fix? I really need this tool, as my mod project relies on balanced cars with similar lap times, and I won't be able to finish it easily without the tool.

 

You need more than one checkpoint now. Split your laps into 3 or 4 sections and it should work. I've attached my Hirochi Raceway Medium route file. It was made in an old version, so you need to put it in userfolder/settings/hotlapping/info.
