not the most experient guy out there, but check if the door uvs (both primary and secondary uv) aren't in a darker side of the texture, or check if it isn't a material related bug
nowdays there is a 'steering column' node/jbeam that dictates the location, as well as orientation, of the wheel so moving the correct nodes will dictate the wheel position and orientation
