So basically I was just thinking... loading BeamNG into a Ipad/Iphone/Ipod or Android phone/Tablet will not actually load correctly and crash instantly. Why? 512MB RAM cannot handle such games with so many stuff to load. So let me just cut to the chase. Make BeamNG for Ipads/Iphones/Ipod and Android Phones/Android tablets 2D! I played a game on Ipad called "Dummy Defense" by Andrew Garrison (Jundroo, LLC) and they use similar method like us (Nodes and Beams) so instead having JUST nodes and beams into our 2d game, we could have like a layer of image (e.g. Audi R8 side way view) like a mesh and the invisible nodes and beams when they crumple, also will the image follow like meshes! So is this idea great? EDIT* I use dummy defense and make car like shapes also with the level editor!
Actually the reason isn't 512mb ram, especially considering almost all mobile devices have 1gb now and a few have 2 or even 3gb. The reason is because BeamNG uses the torque3d game engine which targets the win32 API on x86 processors and does not support any other target. BeamNG on mobile isn't happening. 2d BeamNG, get the android SDK and do a 2d game yourself. It won't be BeamNG anymore, driving simulator in 2 dimensions isn't a driving simulator anymore.
Ask yourself this: What would the point be of 2D BNG? Doesn't that utterly destroy the point of the game?
Ok you got me on this one, but 2d is unlaggy most of the times and I know it feels disappointing about not having it 3d as you can roam freely and stuff.
Yeah they'll run it, but you have to think of those as windows laptops thrown in a tablet shell really and op specifically mentioned android and iOS. Cardinal already ran BeamNG on a windows tablet I think.
Nope. The X230 is a swivel tablet, but it is just essentially a laptop. It can flip into a tablet thing, but it is really just a laptop.
Eh, I remember a dude using a dell venue 11 pro with the 1.8ghz dual core i5 anyway. On the current windows tablet front though most wont run BeamNG. Most are clovertrail or bay trail atom which will lag to hell. A fair few are ARM processor based running Windows RT (port of windows 8 for ARM, contrary to popular belief windows itself is fully cross platform and has been demonstrated on ARM, MIPS, PowerPC and Alpha alongside x86 and AMD64 variants we see today). The full blown core i3/i5 tablets are the only ones which will run it.
BeamNG drive for Android? It will be so laggy, this game needs great processor and very great graphic card. Propably, this game work great on Iphone 8(Lets wait two years an we see Iphone 7;-)). Game need more optimations.
Considering iPhones are always below par on performance compared to their rivals, I think we'll have to wait until the iPhone 16
the most mobile you can get with this game right now is with a few high-end windows tablets... It will be a very long time until it's on android devices, if ever.
Yea that's me and it runs fine with 2 covets on the gridmap with the jumps on it. all the settings are on low anisotrophic filtering is on X16, vsync is on and the resolution is on 1024 x 768. This had nothing to do with anything just wanted to point out that small tablets can run this game smoothly. it will only run x1 of every other vehicle
As many people said, it may not be compatible and i dont think so that there are any smartphones that could be able to run it at decent graphics (sure high end ones would handle on lowest graphics settings at least at 30 fps).
Sorry, but unless they can have an I5 @ more than 3ghz with all cores enabled on a device that is about 3-5cm thick at best. This cannot happen. - - - Updated - - - Um... no there are far too many triangles on screen for even a HighEnd device explain how it could hit 30... Also please refrain from bumping you have recirculated an old thread back into the community that should be dead.
How is this possible ??!! It can't even run smoothly on my HP 4430s Intel core i3 with Intel family graphics card and 6gb of ram
