The one thing that gets on my nerves, is the reversed texture on one side. My suggestion would be to use a separate texture for either the left or right side, so that the textures could be made to no longer be mirrored.
I think some of the vehicles are meant to be getting decal support in the next update similar to how the grand marshal uses a decal for the police logo on each side. Its a per vehicle thing. Engine itself can deal with non mirrored textures just fine, just gabester opted against as for a factory paint scheme the car doesnt really need asymmetry. UV mapping both sides of a car takes up valuable texturesheet space.
Yeah, this would a pain to re uv-map all of the cars, I think Gabe mentioned this somewhere anyway stating that it would take to long or something. I agree its a pain for skinning.
